Château du Châtelard | 2 persons

1. The idea of staying in the Chateau is awesome 2. Good location. Renovated room with the exterior of the old Chateau. Beautiful view of the mountains and lake and winery 3. Not too many guests. Still have privacy in the shared area 4. The room we chose has a big TV All pictures and view lure us to book with this property. We didn't know that we will be staying at the place at our own risks.

1. On arrival the host arrive late 2. The boiler system was broken. We spoke earlier that day but wasn't told of the issue otherwise we could have gone elsewhere for a night. Hence no heater and no hot water. The host promised it will be fixed in the morning 9-10 am top. He told us that every room has same issue 3. We were given one small heater but it was still cold. So we plug in our portable fan heater and the electricity got cut. (We used it elsewhere before and it was fine. It was a small heater fan). We can't use several devices at the same time like if we use heater, we cannot use stove and microwave, etc. otherwise the electricity will get cut. It took 45-50 mins to fix it. The electricity got cut a few times during our stay and it took nearly 1 hour to get it back. We stayed in fear for 5 nights 4. The second day 10am the boiler system isn't fixed as promised, the host said need 1 more hour. We have lunch reservation so we wait until 11am and still not fixed so we get our business done in a freezing room and freezing water. We came back 2pm the host said it's fixed and the system is warming up but it wasn't. And 3pm and 4pm same story. At 5pm he no longer answering our phone call and WhatsApp. We have to contact booking.com for help and we wait 1 hour before we were told that we can move to another room for a night. So at 6pm we move. But I mean we have to pack and repack, and then the next morning we have to pack and move back? We asked if we can stay in the other room until we check out (3 more nights), the host said No (although it's available) 5. There are some rooms that function properly but the host didn't let us move since the first night. He said all the same issue. But apparently there are rooms with heater and hot water but instead of moving us, he let us suffer. I guess that the new room is bigger and more expensive what the room we originally booked, they just want to maximize profit and let guests suffer.

It’s a castle!!! The scenery is breath taking. Edgar was a wonderful host. He was very attentive to our needs and checked in to see if we needed anything.

Uber couldn’t find us for pickup.

Great location and views from the terrace. Overall a good stay, just felt it could be better with a little forethought.

The apartment felt only partially ready for guests. Basics are there but require more to meet the requirements of today’s travellers. Ie kitchen essentials, bathroom update, ( shower curtain, basin plugs!) terrace could be a real feature but needs preparing. It’s a tough walk up the hill.

Der wackelnde Klodeckel :) Die nicht hergerichtete Terrasse - sie wäre sonst schön zu nutzen gewesen. Aber das ist Meckern auf hohem Niveau!
