Exquisite

Beautiful location, fantastic views. The house is beautiful, I would have loved to learn more of its history. The furnishings were outstanding and loved that I had an aircon in my room.

The entrance sign on the road is rather small and very easy to miss. This could be improved.

Beautiful, clean & comfortable but a bit strange

The location was absolutely exquisite, surrounded by greenery and a stunning view of the mountains. There was a pool (we didn’t get to use, unfortunately) and a wonderful balcony too. The room was small but comfortable and clean. The decor in the house was eclectic and there was an awesome kitchen.

The place was a bit of a ghost town, with no staff or people around. We were unsure the fist night whether more people would be arriving, whether or not to bolt the door, if any staff were near. It was a bit strange, with no instructions when we arrived and no one around when we left. The dogs also barked for a lot of the first night, keeping us up. The second night, we came back from a wedding at around 1am and other guests had bolted us out, also not knowing there was anyone else staying there. We had to bang on the door for quite some time until a guest came and opened up. Overall, it was a beautiful place but I think it could be managed a lot better.

Location, clean bedding

Gardens very neglected, bad condition, buildings are not up to stabdard, old and not up to good, some in a bad condition, for the price, no bar, no facilities! No milk for coffee.

Perfect base for exploring Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. The views are exquisite. Comfy bed, cosy atmosphere, great service.

A truly fantastic stay with stunning views and beautiful electic boutique decor.The light and use of colours were exceptional. The staff were amazing-warm, attentive and incredibly helpful. It felt like a home away from home.

I will not recommend this place.

The venue is in a good location between Stellenbosch & Franschoek and easy access to many top wine farms.

The photographs on the website do not equate to what you get. It is run down, and it seems like the staff are not managed. There are parts that are clean (beds, shower, basin, toilet), and other parts that are dusty, old, really shabby and untidy. We had a whole branch of a creeper growing in our bathroom, with the tendrils in the air, and it had been there for a good few weeks creeping up into the venetian blinds and up and through. The bedroom blinds were hanging at an angle, our bedroom door had to be yanked closed as it was uneven and sticky. And there was no complimentary bottle of wine as offered on the site. The place needs a good clean and tidy up!

Disappointing - website not an accurate not the same as what you see when you arrive.

The view and setting was amazing and the staff very pleasant and helpful.

Our first room was not good - no bathroom door, so a person Could lie in bed and watch you on the loo. We were moved downstairs and had to walk upstairs to the fridge as the fridge downstairs was not working. The cleanliness and maintenance not the greatest. WiFi non existent

Dissappointing

The property has amazing potential and seems in its day that it was superb.

It is run down, not maintained well, staff not terribly efficient with tending to requests like broken fridges and no dish wash liquid soap etc. Not what was expected for the price and in such a location.

Run down and not clean enough. It could be much better if they took care of it.

The location is good, and the place seems to have been nicely designed and decorated. There are art books and magazines all around.

We were in one of the studios. The property is quite abandoned, and not clean enough. Kitchen cloth, pool towels and feet shower towel were not properly clean. There were some spiderwebs in the high ceilings and near some plugs in the bottom. We could not cook since there was almost not kitchenware (and what there is, very old and looking not clean enough). The furniture in the terrace had not been cleaned in months. There was nobody from the staff around, so we had the feeling we were in a kind of abandoned property that had had more glorious days. It's a pity because the place is really beautiful.

The location was conveniently close to the venue of the wedding that I was attending but it also had spectacular views - what a bonus! Faith was so kind and helpful and very knowledgeable about the area which made getting around so much easier

Spectacular view!

The view there is astonishing! From our room, we could see the hills, the fields, the nearby city! We experienced a lot of wind from the rain but it didn't make any difference. The room was comfy and the crew was very friendly.

Amazing views with big windows for seeing the stunning mountainsides. Some rooms are very big and airy and there is loads of communal lounges, kitchen, etc. We were upgraded to a larger suit. The pool in summer would be a treat. The beds were warm and comfy. Some interesting furniture pieces and loads of art created by the owner for sale all over the walls.

Not well equipped for the winter cold with large windows and some peculiar, ill-fitting metal blinds in place of curtains. Not very cosy. Also not equipped for loadshedding - since the schedule was 6pm until 8:30pm every night of our stay, it made things a bit bleak in the dark and the cold. There was a gas hob, however. Apparently there were rechargeable lamps but we only found out as we were leaving after only one night. We had been booked in for four. There is a fire stove in the communal area but we had no wood, etc. to utilise it. As it is often with shared kitchens, there was a bit of a feeling of grubbiness. Not sure about WiFi but we couldn’t connect to anything.

Perfect overnight stay

We stayed overnight for a wedding so our stay was brief but it served our purpose well. Staff were fantastic and very helpful. Bed very comfortable, room and bathroom clean and spacious with fantastic views. (We stayed in the Protea Suite)

Guesthouse is like small gallery, on nice position, beautiful view and with good staff

there could have been a coffeemaker or waterboiler in the room or coffee making facility to be used by guests as breakfast and especially coffee took a while
