O Veleiro Bed and Breakfast

Everything. Lots of character, clean and comfy bedrooms, set back from the city in the forest. Great breakfast. But most of all the fantastic hosts who are thoughtful and kind, and available for as much advice as you want on having a great time in Rio. I can’t think of a better value place I’ve ever stayed

It is definitely a very peaceful place after long day of Touristic activities in vibrant Rio de Janeiro. You can chill and calm down in green area and very quiet neighborhood. If you have children/teens and you want them to be staying away from the crowd of the city like bars, clubs and restaurants, while you are resting in your room, this is a very good place to be. They can safely walk around a bit and visit the Botafogo shopping mall with nice cafes and food court, all very family friendly and safe. Richard, one of the owner, is super super friendly and has plenty of useful information about the city and Brazil. He also makes gooooooooooooooooooooooood breakfast every morning. My son loves it, me too. Important: Unlike me, if you are bar and club person, and you love night life the most, and you always want to spontaneously walk out of the hotel and run into the next bar immediately, this accommodation is not the option.

The fantastic location, the relaxing atmosphere and the great service. Bob and Richard are wonderful and very kind hosts, very knowledgable about Rio and Brazil in general , with great advice on how to enjoy Rio. Bob is also a tour guide who will take you to places off the beaten tack. My room was very cosy and spotless.

Everything was great- a memorable stay in all respects.

Friendly hosts that do their best to make you feel home and provide tips. Generally good breakfast with eggs, bread and fresh juice every day.

While being helpful the host also came across a bit too much when it comes to providing safety tips. I was told several times not to wear my over the shoulder bag (even through the microphone of the camera doorbell on the street while waiting for an uber which felt a bit creepy). Bugs/ants found their way to my room. At least the room was equipped with an anti-bug spray. Not every uber knows the location which makes it a drag sometimes to get transport because of canceled rides. Most of the time I made the walk down the hill to start the day. The room was very hot without AC. I slept better on the rainy days. With the shower being directly next to the bed the room was also quite humid. The ceiling fan was dusty, I had to remove dust from my bed several times.
