Very comfortable stay.

The hotel was well positioned. We had secure parking for our bike and the staff were very nice. It was a short ride by bike through quiet streets to the hotel.

It would have been nice to have had a kettle in the room to make tea.

Very clean and pleasant room, lovely bathroom, comfortable bed. Staff very helpful. Breakfast excellent. Just a few minutes from the beach, and in a road of good shops and restaurants.

Only small issue is lack of lift. I had only a light bag, but it would be hard work to take a large case up the (winding) stairs!

Fantastic family friendly apartment in the hotel

The apartment is beautifully finished and equipped, perfect for a family stay with two bedrooms, comfy beds and lovely quality bedding and a great bathroom with fab shower. Having the kitchenette allowed us to do a quick shop for picnic (late) lunch when we arrived and store snacks and a bottle of wine for after dinner in the evening. Outside private garden space is a huge bonus on a sunny day, just lovely. Wifi fast and free…teenagers happy! We got lucky with parking, 2 mins away by the crazy golf, someone just leaving as we arrived. On a summer public holiday weekend it was very busy…it’s all free in white line painted bays so no worries about paying or tickets. Breakfast was fresh and tasty…we really enjoyed the scrambled eggs offered, perfect! Owners are lovely, staff did everything to help…including very good English (sorry for our poor French). Thank you.

A small, but very nice hotel near the beach

Best thing about this hotel is the location: at the city center surrounded by small shops and restaurants it is still very close to the beach. The beach is a MUST when you stay at Houlgate.

Location in the heart of the city but still having a calm ambiance it is a big plus. Clear guidance from the staff member how to do the late check in was really helpful. And big plus for the possibility to have scrambled eggs for breakfast which is not so obvious in every location:-) I also admired the system of late self service ( the guests were allowed to take any drinks during the absence of the staff but had to marked it with the room number in the note book) - I didn’t use it but I find it super cool and handy for those who need a glass of wine before going sleep:-)

The room could be cleaner and definitely the bathroom needs more attention and not only general cleaning after each guest. You can easily see that for a long time some parts were omitted and it would be good to spend some time to bring them to the initial or close to initial state. Also I encountered some issues with warm water every day in the morning so I had cold and warm shower all the time even I didn’t want to increase my immunity with that procedure:-)

Cute property, nice room with a nice view of the surrounding buildings. The location was great and easy to find parking. The staff were ultra accommodative to walk as I checked in late at night around 10pm.

No fan in the room, as the room was on the top floor it was boiling hot.

The attic room (212) would not have been at all suitable for anyone over 5ft. 5inches tall. There was not wardrobe or anywhere to put clothes and no mirror apart from the bathroom mirror. The absence of parking on site can be a problem when the town is busy.

Bon établissement et proprio très sympathique

arrivé tard le soir vers les 21h30 (plus de réception) les indications pour la prise de la chambre n'était pas bonne, mais le propriétaire c'est déplacé pour trouver une solution, il c'est excusé de l'erreur commise et nous a offert le petit déjeuné et fait un rabais sur la première nuit car la chambre ne correspondait pas a celle que nous avions réservé (chambre familiale vs chambre pour 1 personne) La bonne chambre était propre et agréable (il manquait juste une bouilloire pour se faire un petit café le soir) mais sinon rien à reprocher, le petit déjeuné était bon et très bien servi. en repartant ma femme a voulu acheter une confiture maison, le propriétaire nous l'a gentiment offert suite à l'incident. Avec ma femme nous avons passé un très bon séjour au sein de leur établissement.
