Unhelpful reception staff, very small rooms, wouldn’t rush to stay again

Good location, close to Main Street and shore front.

I had 2 rooms booked for 2 adults and 2 kids, I would’ve thought we’d get rooms beside each other. Was told at checkin that as the hotel was very busy they couldn’t place us in rooms alongside each other but I had made this booking months ago so can’t understand why the rooms were so far apart. Our stay was for our 25th wedding anniversary and our total group had taken 7 rooms with others in the group having rooms beside each other so what reception said was untrue. I also asked for an early checkin or if there would be a room we could leave bags in and that I could change into my dress as I needed to be at the 25th venue before 4pm and check in wasn’t until 3.30. I was told I could pay extra for early checkin and no offer was made to store bags. Very disappointing customer service. Room was tiny and bathroom could’ve been doing with a good clean as the grout around shower and tiles was very grubby.

breakfast one eastern European waitress insisted we could not have a pot of tea before our food we just want a cup of tea before eating we where there for 6 nights and this only happened once the Irish waitress where great and understood that we wanted tea before food

A great few days away !

Our 3 nights stay at Lake of Shadows was excellent. The decor and room were amazing, with excellent standards of cleanliness. Sleeping was easy as bed was very comfortable!.The variety and standard of food on offer was very impressive and delicious .The hotel was beautifully decorated and the icing on the cake was how attentive the staff were .Being friendly and efficient made our stay so lovely. Located very central to everything was a big bonus! First time in Buncrana and will definitely be back again to Lake of Shadows! Would highly recommend to anyone visiting this lovely town .

Almost perfect

The service was excellent, so friendly. The rooms well appointed and with a bath, so often nowadays only showers. jThe food itself was superb, the only fault and the reason it did not get a ten was the cutlery and crockery aon the breakfast table were dirty, stained and two chipped cups

Nice location

After already paying on booking.com before we arrived the receptionist demanded we pay them again and made a scene . I explained many of times before that it has already been paid and they told us it is not possible , then eventually after standing at reception for 30 mins he came and said “oh I see use have paid “ then gave us our room key! Very poor reception!

We had a very relaxed and enjoyable stay with lovely staff .

Breakfast was very tasty and plenty of it. Hotel very clean and comfortable bed and room. Dinners were tasty and good portions.

The fact there was no actual bar to sit and have a drink. If u were just having a drink the people at the next table could have been eating a meal. An area just to have a quiet drink would have been nice.

No staff behind the bar, rooms not clean cobwebs hanging from ceiling one pillow had blood stains which means bed sheets and not fully removed after each customer not good also no toilet brushes for toilets very warm at night

Lovely hotel very close to the town and beautiful beach at the end of the road. Great room comfy bed and friendly staff. Enjoyed two lovely meals in the bar and great breakfasts. Thank you for a great stay 👍.

nice room good bed good location

waited 1 hour to place a food order and eventually left premises and had an apache pizza in the car. staff peddling the “3 functions so a delay on food orders” nonsense. management needed to take control and set patrons straight. hire summer staff for the kitchen, offer a complimentary glass of wine or fizzie drink to appease patrons waiting unnecessarily to eat.

Central with a good car park across from it..great walks and big park if you have kids .good beach is 5 mins away and town also just 5 mins walk.. breakfast was very tasty best I've eaten in a long time and spotless in my room...

.Staff could do with smiling a bit more especially at Breakfast time. My room was lovely but very warm could do with some air conditioning especially the front rooms as sun just shines in and with window still no air gets in..I think it's more suited for older people.but very good restaurant.

Breakfasts were excellent! Loved everything! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the food was amazing and the location was great and so central to all sorts of beautiful beaches, sites and drives etc.

Only niggle was the little shelf on the wall to the left of the basin (room 156, double bed) that was hard not to bump when getting out of the shower / bath. It could be placed somewhere else. Also could hear guests' movements(!) in room above ours.
