Excellent location and has nice facilities

The location is excellent. Close to the town. Nice views of the water from certain parts of the hotel (for example the dining room). Helpful staff. Nice pool.

The breakfast was not great for people with dietary requirements. I saw there was some gluten free bread which was labelled. I asked a staff member if the mushrooms were fried in oil or butter as it was not labelled. People looking for vegan options should have breakfast elsewhere as there aren't a lot in the hotel. Same with the bar / restaurant menu.

The Guinness and Coors was absolutly stink The service in the bar was brutal . we were aware there was a wedding wenesday so as a benefit of doubt we understood waiting an hour for our dinner but the same thing on thursday over an hour to make a burger and about 10 chips . ended up getting a takeaway later on Almost 15 euro for an average breakfast asked for a jug of milk for the room and the barman tried charging 4 euro but then said 2 euro which made me wonder was it for his own pocket. couldnt refil a vending machine properly and took money without bringing out item people shouting on hallway kids running around reception like it was a creche and sitting down on the stairs almost dropped belongings Honesly for a place that looks so nice it was 1 of the most dissapointing places ever . 3.5 hour drive wasnt worth it

I loved the bedroom, the pool and the breakfast.

We ate in the bar as the restaurant was in use for the Christmas party night. The staff brought us a menu and then forgot to come back to take an order until I went over. The bar man was using a skip and was throwing bottles very loudly into this. A skip is ok when the bar is busy and no one can hear it over music playing etc but not when the bar is quiet and you are trying to eat.

Friendly, helpful staff, particularly on reception. Well equipped gym and lovely heated pool in the leisure centre. Breakfast was nice with great coffee. The room was lovely, clean and comfy and had heating controls which was great.

The location was very good and the hotel was homely rather than luxurious. What I expected. Food in the bar was OK. Staff were all very friendly

The pool area is a bit tired and in need of a revamp. Pool itself is quit big and nice and warm, no jacuzzi and sauna could be renovated. Fried breakfast not great quality but otherwise enjoyed what was on offer and didn't really want to have a fry anyway

Loved it.

Hotel is within walking distance to the town. Staff (Annie) front reception was lovely, warm and welcoming and knowledgeably answered all of our questions. We had a sea view room which was a good size, en-suite bathroom/shower, very comfortable and exceptionally clean. Complimentary water and hot beverage making facilities. We didn’t have dinner in the hotel on this occasion but the menus looked lovely. We did have breakfast the next morning and the quality & choice was fantastic. Overall a great stay and we would definitely return.

Not a big deal and it was probably my inability to work it out ! The room temperature was slightly on the cool side at night. There was a remote to adjust this but didn’t seem to work. I have no doubt that reception or night staff would have been only to happy to sort it for us but it was late and didn’t want to cause a fuss. The lovely Annie at reception next mornjng said it would have been no bother and not to hesitate to ask for assistance with any issue on future visits.

Staff are friendly and very helpful. Views are amazing. Dinner had many choices and was delicious. The team had put a candle in my hubbies dessert as it was his birthday. Very nice touch! The pool was a decent size and well looked after. Towels are provided and there are lockers in the changing rooms.

The room was quite warm and I didn't sleep well. I mentioned this at check-out and was told that there were fans I could have requested in reception. I hope this helps all future clients.

The hotel room from Hell

The cleaning staff were always courteous, kind and helpful. Reception staff not so much. I had forgotten to book meals so I did not have much to do with reception. On the few occasions when I decided to have breakfast, the dining room staff sent me to Reception to pay and on the day I was leaving Reception said that if I wanted breakfast I would need to arrange it with the dining room. I found it confusing so gave up in the end and decided it would be easier to eat locally instead. A simpler method of allowing those residents on room only to pay for meals would be helpful.

The room was horrible mainly because of the constant traffic noise. It overlooked the motorway between Buncrana and Derry so there was heavy traffic, not just cars but buses, lorries, tractors thundering past all day and all night. The weather was very hot whilst I was there so had no option but to keep the windows open. That meant I was breathing in traffic fumes. Additionally, the hotel car park was locating just outside my room so that was an additional source of noise with car doors slamming, people shouting and talking late into the night and early in the morning. The room itself was long and narrow and didn't have enough wardrobe or drawer space, just a few open shelves. Also the carpet was stained in places. It would have been tolerable if I had only been staying for a few days but two weeks in those conditions was dreadful. I have had better hotel accommodation in third world countries. Message to other would-be residents : if you stay at Inishowen Gateway, make sure your room is on the side of the hotel that faces away from the main road i.e. facing the sea.

Fabulous hotel and staff. 9/10

The staff were all amazing very friendly helpful and they couldn't do enough for myself and disabled mum. The food was delicious, and bedrooms so comfortable. We arrived on a Sunday to check out one the Tuesday LOL we ended up staying to the Friday. The weather was amazing and the beach so close. The pool sauna and steam I loved also. We loved our stay many thanks and we'll be down again soon! Love Siobhàn & Mary (mum & daughter) xx

I think the leisure centre needs a hot tub and I also would like a smokers area with some seat's and few tables outside. That's my only suggestion for some improvements. Everything else just fabulous x

Very enjoyable Gateway stay!

The room was both spacious and comfortable. The leisure facilities at the hotel were also very good. We dined in the main bar for dinner and had breakfast. Both of which were delicious and plentiful.

I could not fault the hotel, staff or food. I emailed the hotel immediately when we arrived home to express how well we enjoyed our stay.
