Lavandeira Douro Nature & Wellness

Our stay at Lavandeira Douro was simply exceptional. The property itself is stunning, but what truly sets it apart is the attention to detail. The cleanliness is on another level, and the amazing scent throughout the property creates such a relaxing and luxurious atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the towels felt very high quality — all the small details that make a stay truly memorable. Every single staff member was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful — from the reception to the restaurant team — with a special shoutout to Ricardo for his kindness and professionalism. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was incredibly warm and welcoming. Hearing the story behind the property directly from her was truly inspiring and made the experience even more special. The restaurant food was exceptional and clearly lives up to its strong reputation. Everything we tried was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Their in-house wine is also excellent and pairs perfectly with the menu, adding another highlight to the experience. The surroundings are equally beautiful, with scenic trails leading to a nearby river and even down to the Douro River itself, making the stay feel peaceful and connected to nature. In short, we cannot recommend this place enough. A truly memorable experience that we would gladly return to.

Location is very nice and estate is very beautiful and large! Receptionists and the cook were extremely nice.

Unfortunately we do not speak Portuguese and the level of English of certain restaurant/bar staff members was not that good, which complicated communication. For a hotel of this standing, we would highly recommend the service staff to improve their English.

Beautiful property. The pool area was a highlight. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend the restaurant on site, the food was delicious and they were knowledgeable about catering for a celiac guest.

Absolutely gorgeous area! Beautiful greenery, flowers and home grown goods. Honestly so picturesque. Spa was great, pool area lovely too and dining area very chic.

Firstly the rooms were a bit delayed in getting ready which is fine that happens. Unfortunately the Manor House rooms are the oldest so definitely can tell things need to be fixed! Our bathroom door do not close at all and had barely any natural sunlight. One of the rooms showers were broken. The food tastes great but not a huge amount of choice if you’re staying there for a few nights otherwise it feels samey samey. Unfortunately three members woke up with food poisoning and they had eaten the same meal so it’s likely this was caused by the dinner we ate (the fish).
