Nice setting, but not worth the price

The hotel has very beautiful common areas and a great location. One of the things we liked the most was the overall atmosphere — the hotel feels like a small village, which creates a very pleasant and relaxing environment.

The room was not as clean as we expected; we even found a bottle left behind from previous guests, which was disappointing. Additionally, the breakfast options were mostly pre-made rather than homemade, which reduced the overall quality. The staff also seemed quite tired, and unfortunately this sometimes came across as rudeness.

Nice hotel on the outskirts of the village

This is a nice hotel on the outskirts of megalo papigo. The hotel is composed of a cluster of renovated buildings, and we stayed in a two-story room which is an entire small house. The rooms were very nice. Breakfast was tasty and nice.

The location is a bit far from the middle of the village, and there is no parking on site. You can park at the large parking lot at the bottom. However, with a large car, getting your stuff to the hotel even without parking required a bit of careful driving. Something to be prepared for. The staff here were not as friendly as in many other places in Greece and in this area in particular.

Spectacular view of the Vikos Gorge. So charming and beyond our expectations

The view from our room was absolutely exquisite. The location was close to the Vikos Gorge for anyone who is interested in hiking. Our only regret was that we didn’t stay long enough to truly enjoy all that the accommodation had to offer. The breakfast was healthy, plentiful and with a lot of choice. We would 100% return to this absolutely stunning accommodation in this unbelievably beautiful area

The views, the accommodation, the breakfast selection, the lady who cooks the breakfast!

The only issue we had was with the girl who was “serving” coffee in the morning. She wasnt very nice and it was hard to get coffee from her.

Very beautiful hotel, just under the mountains. Amazing view! Very comfortable rooms with very nice decoration. We loved our stay and the hosts were so nice people! Will certainly return. It felt like home!

Stunning property with great views

Such a stunning property. All the little areas outdoors were so nicely decked out and there were so many plants. The interior of the property was also really stylish (and comfortable). Beautiful views all around. A friendly cat. This was one of our favourite places we stayed. It's only a 20 min walk to the rock pools. Really yummy breakfast with loads of choice and a beautiful setting for it. Short walk into the village for restaurants. We got a little confused about where to park on arrival but once we'd understood where we were being pointed to it was fine - I'd suggest ringing/contacting ahead for a seamless arrival. Be aware that the pool is small and also in a separate property next door (we wandered around looking for it for a while!). We didn't actually go in it but loved sitting next to it admiring the view with a couple of beers (and free crisps) and having the option of going in in the heat (although judging by someone's reaction when he went in, it's extremely cold!).

Very minor things which didn't really bother us but might be worth being aware of. There isn't much shade when eating breakfast plus I don't think there was enough seating for everyone to be eating at once so, even though it was a lovely place to sit and relax, we usually left straight after eating because a) we were burning and b) there were other people needing the seats. The aircon doesn't quiiite reach the bedroom so it was still a bit hot at night (but this was in unseasonably warm weather in July). As others have mentioned, probably not suitable if you have mobility issues as there are a lot of steps. Pool only open certain hours (something like 11-15:30 and 17:00-20:00).

The staff were so kind and welcoming that by the end of our stay, we found ourselves hugging them goodbye—a rare and genuine connection that we’ll never forget. It was worth every kilometer of the trip. If you’re searching for a place that offers mountain charm, natural beauty, comfort, and unforgettable hospitality, this is the place to be.

Exceptional traditional stay

Everything was wonderful. Beautiful traditional rooms that felt like individual bungalows, SPECTACULAR breakfast, and sweet and helpful owners. Almost forgot, pool set right under the mountains, surrounded by swallows. We didnt want to leave!

A very charming setting in Papingo.

It’s an absolutely gorgeous place in a beautiful setting. All the little decorative details are so nice. Views!

They don’t serve breakfast until 9:00 which we thought was late for hikers. We had miscommunication about an early breakfast and a rude staff member. The kitchen serving area was very small and hard to access. We were never asked if we wanted coffee or cooked eggs. The whole process was bad. The food was nice!!

Wow! What a stunning place. We wish we had booked more nights. Our room was beautiful, the view was spectacular, and the entire lodge was charming. The attention to detail was obvious. Breakfast was the best we had during our 3 weeks in Greece!

Found parking right outside the hotel. The gounds and guesthouses are gorgeous and idyllic. Room size is great. Walk right into the village and restuarants and cafés

Unique property with spectacular views

A stunning and unique hotel - a cluster of small stone houses facing the most spectacular view. We had a family room, which had a double bed upstairs and a large sofa bed downstairs- perfect for our family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The (small) pool and bar are just lovely and a great place to hang out and cool down after a day of hiking. Staff were very helpful and organised an early breakfast for us so we could leave earlier for our walk.

The place was absolutely beautiful. The mountain view was stunning. The whole concept of the property was traditional but not old. Full of flowers and plants. The owners are very sweet and nice people.

This was a simply gorgeous place. Like a small hamlet with lovely views and the all-night song of nightingales. The best breakfast ever and the cooking of the coming year's strawberry preserve going on in the afternoon.

Fairytale setting!

This place is a true gem. We visited in late March, and with its budding trees and flowers, tastefully scattered vintage decorations, great view of the Papigo mountains, the knowledge that one is walking on grounds that have been around since 1760, and the feeling of being right in the middle of an enchanted forest, the entire place felt like we'd stepped right into a fairytale. The rooms were warm and had a romantic mountain chalet charm. The hosts are super friendly, and their two dogs and two cats are adorable. Absolutely staying there when the road takes us to Papigo again!

I don't have words to describe how pleased we were with our stay in Avragonio. A big shout out to all the staff who were extremely welcoming and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and had an incredible view! The breakfast had unlimited choices of local produce. Can't wait to come back!

Avragonio is a must stay

Breakfast was very nice with fresh eggs prepared for us, amazing views of the Towers of Astraka. Avragonio is like a small village within a village. Very well taken care of. The room was really warm, clean and spacious. The crib was ready in our room as we had requested. the personnel was very polite. They even called us personally to inform us about a power strike that would happen during the night in case we needed to prepare anything beforehand for the baby. This was very much appreciated.

The towels need to be renewed. We were given a towel with a whole.
