Hotel Gardena

It was very close to the station and the public bus and fairy boat. It was clean and quiet

The room was a bit small

I specifically asked for a room with a balcony and a canal view. The hotel does not have balconies, but did have a large opening window that I could sit at and view the Grand Canal from. The staff were exceptionally helpful and accommodating to my request. The room was spacious, as was the bathroom. The hotel is a short walk from the train station with only one bridge and a few steps to negotiate. There was climate cooling in the room which was very welcome in 34 degree heat.

We loved that the hotel is close to the bus station and therefore easy to carry luggage only a short distance. It was on a quiet street yet close to main amenities. The staff were amazing, in particular Ernezto who gave us fabulous recommendations and made us feel so welcome in Venice!

Lovely staff, on the canal with lovely bars and restaurants on our doorstep, in a nice neighbourhood and convenient location.

There was only one curtain on each window instead of a pair on each, so you couldn’t draw them. There were some marks on the ceiling above the bed. It felt generally less luxurious and beautiful than we’d imagined for the price and pictures. The breakfast was terrible so we didn’t even have it.
