I don’t think AC worked. Didn’t see any controls anywhere. Entrance looks like you are walking into a very rough place but rooms are clean and presentable, but very basic. Supplies are extremely minimal. No food items whatsoever. I did not compare prices, so I cannot speak for value. The location was excellent, and we felt safe. Door and walls are paper thin. That all said, we did have a nice stay!

Our room wasn’t clean, we were told 30 minutes after our check-in that our room was ready. The room wasn’t touched after the people who stayed there before us, piles of towels, etc. When we contacted the staff, the front desk lady was super rude to us. We waited about 45 minutes in the hallway for someone to come and clean the room.

My room have canal view and it was clean and comfy. No staff present but you can text them for any questions or needs. They will text instructions and code for doors. If you follow the instructions there will not be any issue. I liked and i will recommend for a quick 2 o 3 days trip unless you preferred full service hotel, this will be great.

Great location, but not really what we were expecting. We booked through Expedia and thought we were getting a hotel, but it is really more of a rental apartment (self-check in, no staff). We were told there was a kitchen but couldn't find one anywhere in our apartment (room 6). Room 6 also had the most bizarre layout (by North American standards anyway). There were SO MANY stairs which was very difficult for carrying all our luggage. If you have accessibility issues, you should not stay here. I wouldn't recommend this room if you have very young children either. We were only there for 2 nights and the location is really good so it all worked out in the end for us. But I think if I had kids with me, if I wasn't able to do heavy lifting up many stairs, or if I actually needed the kitchen, I would have felt differently.

Great stay! Very clean had everything we needed. There is no reception, however the owners were readily available for questions. Process to getting into our room was easy via messaging the owner had sent a few days prior to our arrival.

The best part of this stay is the location if you want to be close to the train and bus station, 5 5-minute walk. The rest is not so good. The toilet didn't flush, and there were a lot of stairs with no elevator if you had lots of luggage. You never see a person, it's a check-in self-checkout. No one to assist you. It's not really a hotel, just a few rooms in the building dedicated to tourist rent. Because building is old the floor is very uneven.

Very convenient location. We choose this due to the proximity to the bus station because we had a flight the next morning. It was very hot in Venice on the day we stayed in this room, and the air conditioning did not work properly. I know that the response to this comment will certainly be “we checked the air conditioning and it is working properly”, but that is NOT true. When we arrived at 3pm for check in, the thermostat read “30 degrees C”. SOOOO hot in the room. But ok, so we put the A/C on, set to a lower temp, showered off, and went out to enjoy the city. Came back 3 hours later and now the thermostat read “31 degrees C”. What? How could it be even hotter now with the A/C running? We again showered off, and tried to relax and cool off a bit, and before we left the room for dinner, the thermostat read “32 degrees C”. Wow. Going in the wrong direction! After dinner and walking around for the evening, we again came back to the room, and it was SOOO hot in there. We again showered for a 3rd time to cool off, and tried to go to bed with the windows open for a little breeze. This room is right on the Grand Canal which is so very busy and noisy, and we were hearing laughing and talking and boats going by and loud noises until nearly 3am. Awful night sleep. We were quite happy to leave in the morning. This is quite a nice room with a beautiful view and convenient location. We would have been quite happy with it if not for the faulty air conditioning.

The location was good, The building in the picture is not the building, its the one across the river. There was no air condition and no stairs. Very difficult to carry bags up so many flights of stairs if you are partially handicap. There was no mention of it in the description of the building.

Overall the stay was great. Getting to store our luggage before checkin was a nice plus. Outside the property was dirty and had a scammer, but I can’t blame the hotel for that.

The locations of the Gran Canal Suites is very good but the service of the staff very very bad. We stayed there for 4 days and the never did the cleaning or service of the room. They never changed the towels or bring more toilet paper to use. We paid almost $300 US dollars per night which is almost $260 euros per night and when I asked about the service or the cleaning of the room, the staff said it was not included on the cost. I reviewed my reservation and on it they never mentioned this was not included or that it will be done with some additional cost. I do not recommend this units. One day even we did not have hot water to take a shower….

Stay here ONLY if you need to be next to the train station. The good: 5 minutes away and can see train station from this apt/hotel. Awesome view from the “common area” window. Easy access to food and shops. Off site staff replied quickly to my emails. The not so good: Cool outside in early May but inside room was 30c/86f - opened windows but that just let in all the mosquitoes! Staff said they couldn’t turn AC on till later in the month when it’s warmer. It worked out since 2nd day had a cold shower (no hot water!) instant wake up to catch 6am train. Don’t count on WiFi as it was virtually useless ( maybe turned off in the evening?)

The view was amazing. It was located close to the train station even though you must go through a bridge with stairs and then a staircase with your luggage. The staircase at the location was unsafe with the carpet rods coming up. When we arrived it was extremely hot in the building and our room. When I messaged the host they told me the AC will not work in April. The first line advertised shows “air conditioning” so this was disappointing as I would not have chosen this location with no AC. When I explained the next day how loud it was outside to keep the window opened I was told it was against the law to use AC there. I researched this and only found that law is only in effect now for office buildings. So we had a very warm and loud two nights with no sleep. They didn’t care since they had already gotten my money. The bed also had a hard plastic under the sheet which was very uncomfortable to sleep on. This place could be nice with minor improvements. I’m disappointed this ruined my stay in Venice.

Other than check-in, great hotel. This hotel does not have a front desk - it is a coded building. We were on a cruise before staying here, so didn’t realize we needed a code to get in. We called upon arrival, and completed the necessary documents, and were told we could get the code quickly, but it took over and hour and a half and we had to call back multiple times. Also, you need WhatsApp or internet to receive and complete the necessary check-in documents. Once in, it was fine. Safe, clean room with a nice view.

Disappointing Stay, Overpriced for What You Get I recently stayed this place, and it was, unfortunately, one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. Despite the high price tag, the amenities were bare-bones at best. The room was cold, outdated, and lacked even basic comforts you would expect for the price—no coffee maker, subpar bedding, and poor Wi-Fi. There is no actual staff on site, you reach them virtually via WhatsApp, and they seemed uninterested in addressing concerns, and the service overall was lackluster. For what I paid, I was expecting at least a comfortable, high-quality stay, but what I received was far from it. If you’re considering booking here, I strongly advise you to avoid this place. There are far better options nearby that offer much more for your money.

This was a lovely stay for our first time in Venice. We had a great view of the canal and the room was very spacious. The only challenge was walking up the stairs with our luggage since there is no elevator but other than that, it was very convenient location and beautiful place. Just an FYI, it is mentioned on the description that there in no staff on site. They were good about keeping contact via WhatsApp. Also, you cannot control the thermostat. Luckily it was cool enough at night to not need that ( for the hot bodies out there).

This is a catfish property. I felt misled with my booking. It felt like a prison on the inside, concrete walls. It was not sanitary, I could tell that they did not properly clean the carpet since there was hair, lent and other particles in the floor (pictures attached) It is very difficult to find and we could not figure out how to adjust the thermostat. There was a door that was locked in our room with a strange sign on it.

When we arrived at the hotel for our two night stay there were dead and live mosquitoes on the bed, in the washroom and all around the room. We messaged them right away and all they said was to send them pictures and there was bug machine in the room! There was also a can of RAID in the closet. No wonder there was dead mosquitoes all over the room. They must have sprayed it before we arrived but didn’t bother cleaning it up. First evening we were woken up in the middle of the night by a loud dripping noise on the floor. What I found was water dripping on to the floor from the AC unit up above the ceiling. I put a garbage can underneath it to catch the water. We messaged to tell them in the morning and they asked a video of the leak and then asked us when we will be checking out. After sending pictures they said they will inform the technician. Technician never came and water dripped all night again on our last night. Our room was unit No 1 standard room with grand canal view, the room looked nothing like the pictures. It was dirty and sticky. We do not recommend this hotel unless you want to be bit by mosquitoes in your sleep.

The Grand Canal Hotel is clean and conveniently located near the train station. However, our stay was disappointing. The air conditioning couldn't cool our room below 27°C, and the pre-arrival process was tedious with numerous messages, links, and a document uploads. Additionally, there is no staff on-site. Despite booking a suite, it felt more like a hostel than a hotel, with a shared common area just outside our room door. It did not meet our expectations.

Arrived at 4:20pm and room wasn’t ready for a 3pm check in. No checkin desk so had to wait as I carried 100lbs of luggage up the stairs and wasnt willing to do it twice. 1/2 hr later we get in the room. Paying almost $400 cdn and with the early checkout of 10am I expect my room to be ready for 3pm. Property refused any sort of compensation for this. Expedia gave me a $50 credit which is better than nothing. Price paid is solely for the view. Bed is hard, decor is very dated, pillows are not good. I couldn’t sit in the toilet properly because my legs are too long. Anyone over 6”4 will have to sit sideways which is not ideal. There is a safe in the room but it is not attached to anything and someone could put it under their arm and simply walk out. Having a can of raid in the linen closet is odd. 5 min walk from train station

The common room was lovely but the room itself was cold, could not get a response on how to turn heat on. There was still garbage in the bathroom, other peoples left overs in fridge and the shower is extremely small. There is no atmosphere to the room what so ever. The safe can be picked up and carried away and the doors can easily be opened with a credit card! The only good thing ws the location and the view.
