Excellent location and very clean and comfortable.

Could benefit from some cutlery and plates

The cottage (10) was separate from the main building so we basically had a private shower, toilet, and coin laundry, snd no noisy neighbors. Private onsen was great, only 20 meters walk from the cottage. Location was also excellent, very close to the shops, cafe/pizzeria and bus terminal. Kids loved the pingpong table in the first floor. Wifi was working pretty well. We were able to postpone the check-out until 11:00 by paying an extra 2000 yen, which saved our rainy day.

Overall facilities pretty dated, but in line with the rest of the village. Limited eating facilities (no forks/knives), no tables except the pingpong one. Check-out too early by default.

We loved the privacy as the entire house belonged to our group. We also liked the outdoor seating area where we could have dinner in the fresh air. There were plenty of parking space for guests as well.

The light box of exit sign in the bedroom couldn't be turned off. I found it a bit hard to sleep with this light on at night.

The outdoor Onsen is lovely, you can enjoy stunning mountain view while bathing. There's also a massage chair downstairs. The location is close to the bus stop (but then so is everything in this little town)

The room smelled of smoke, even though we asked for a non-smoker room. You make your own bed and then sleep on the floor. This gave me back pain after hiking all day and being exhausted and desperate for a good rest. There's minimal/no service. The host (a very old lady) was strangely rude to my kids and knocked on their heads with her knuckles while talking to them. They only give tiny, thin bath towels which doesn't cover anything or dry, and refuses to give extra when asked despite us staying for 3 nights. We had a superior room but is actually tiny and everyone sleep on the floor together with no space left inbetween. Check-out is at 9am which is unusually early and the little old lady was watching like a hawk to make sure you leave.... It's like we've encountered Yubaba from Spirted Away.
