A Great time had by us all.

Breakfast was Great , staff friendly food was Good and the live music on the Saturday night was fab, two bands were great we went for my Huband's Birthday with friends there was 6 of us and had a great time . The rooms were cosy the beds were soo comfy.

Don’t do accommodation in a bar unless the rooms are totally sound proof

The rooms are first class and the receptionist was great. The quality of beer in the bar is so poor. The quality of the food in restaurant is just ok. It’s impossible to sleep in the rooms till the music stops playing which is unacceptable . Definitely wouldn’t stay here again.

Location brilliant, room immaculately clean. The new decor is stunning. Staff are fabulous: friendly, helpful and genuinely lovely people. Food is delicious.

Only small improvement: the light in the hallway was on all night, which shone through door frame. Would be good to have the lights on sensor to only come on when people are making their way to their rooms. Or have a blackout curtain inside over the door to be able to have the room in darkness.

Great Location

Staff were amazing especially Mo at Breakfast and the lovely girl at reception! Very welcoming clean and facilities were great.

There is no lift at the hotel so bringing luggage and a day of walking is awful having to climb a mountain of stairs.

Very well located within the town. Located right at the main area of the town so within walking distance of the beach front. The rooms were well furnished and extremely comfy. The dining area looked very well. We were told it was recently refurbished. It's a good job. We had a cooked breakfast which was decent and there were options for some light snacks. There is a bar attached next door that had live music and there was a good atmosphere about it.

Excellent Accommodation

Excellent location - the room was very comfortable, and i had a room overlooking the main street, and for me, that was brilliant. The bed was super comfortable. I have stayed in this accommodation a few times now and have re-booked again. The staff are super friendly and very accommodating.

The parking is difficult. It's just because Portstewart is so busy, which is brilliant to see but leaves the parking very difficult.

Food, staff, great location what’s not to like

Everything met our expectations, the receptionist Jessie was very friendly and welcoming and we felt we were best friends for ever and having just met her, she’s a great asset to the Anchor, also Mo, the lady who served us breakfast on our last day was really lovely and chatty despite being rushed of her feet tending to a group of golfers, she took everything in her stride, originally we had booked for 3 days but Jessie managed to get us an extra 2 days due to a cancellation, great and weather was exceptional too

The fact that the Anchor / Anchorage Inn Portstewart can call itself a 4* hotel is absolutely astounding. It should be investigated and booking.com should not allow a 4* claim on its website. First of all, one room cost £145 for ONE night. We wouldn't have booked this if we had any other option of staying anywhere else in Portstewart, but unfortunately it was the Red Sails Festival when we wanted to come and by the time we came to book accommodation in March this was the only option left in Portstewart. I have stayed in some incredibly nice places for less. And this was NOT incredibly nice. Secondly, upon arrival we were checked into a double bedroom. We had specifically requested a twin bedroom and the hotel had confirmed this (and we had booked a twin bedroom as well). I went downstairs to enquire as to whether we could get a twin room and was told every other room was taken. No offer of money off or turning it into a twin room. Yet the double beds were twin beds just zipped up - so why couldn't they just have made it into twin beds before we arrived? Thirdly, we made the mistake of staying here on a Saturday night. The music from the downstairs club was THUMPING LOUD. It could be heard CLEARLY in our room. I could hear it through my ear plugs and the fan on maximum. The music wasn't audible through the earplugs - but the thumping vibrations were. And it went on until 1:44am. How this can be a club AND also a hotel but without adequate soundproofing is unbelievable. Fourthly, the room was very dirty in places. For example, the light switches were so sticky and filthy, and there were cobwebs in the bathroom and stains on the carpet. (Photos attached) In conclusion, I wouldn't have left a review like this if the stay cost say £70 because that would be what we paid for. But £145. I am aghast that people pay this and more and still for some reason leave a 5 star review.
