I stayed here while walking the Camino de Santiago in August 2025. After you cross the long bridge and give thanks that you are still alive, the hostel is located on a street to the right, about a ten minute walk away from the bridge. I was in a women's bunk room for four people, but there were only two of us (bottom beds, woo-hoo). Sheets and towels were provided. Although it was busy, the hostel was clean. The staff spoke good English.
Breakfast was included in the price. It was the typical continental, with a good amount of choices.
In general the hostel has a worn feeling, but at this price point it is to be expected. It's well worn because other people know a great deal when they see it.

The location was perfect as I was walking the camino. The room was spacious enough for 2, which we were, and I think it would have been ok for 4, which it could have accommodated. The breakfast was perfect, just what we need to start fresh a good day!
There should be a rack to hang our clothes to in the room, given that most of us are camino pilgrims and have to wash our clothes every night.

The architecture in this building is stunning. We were gobsmacked - the stairs, the hallways, the kitchen where you have breakfast, it is all fabulously kept and so well designed. If you are in anyway interested in architecture you will love it here. Rooms were warm but well furnished, with nice views over the river.
The room was a bit warm, and it was a long walk to the other side of town from the historic centre.

Receptionists especially Carmelo amazingly helpful. Great location near river to swim plus waterfront plus old town. A large building very clean and great breakfast. My favorite place in Portugal so far. Close to a great restaurant
