About this lodge

BLUEBELLS - a unique opportunity to stay in one of three really cosy log cabins at Highampton which lies between Hatherleigh and Holsworthy. Our lodges are constructed from 8" pine logs and are exceptionally warm and welcoming. We offer clean, comfortable accommodation that has views which are absolutely fantastic - right across miles of beautiful Devon countryside to Dartmoor in the distance. South facing with undercover patio. Parking on your own driveway alongside your lodge and garden area for your picnics or for the children to play in. Our lodges are fully furnished for up to four people and are centrally placed for both the north and south coasts of Devon, and for the North Cornwall Coast - Widemouth Bay and Bude being particular favourites.
Holiday for 7/14 nights or take a short break - our lodges take 4 people comfortably in a main bedroom with a king-size bed (new mattress 2022) and two twins in the second bedroom.

Please note the lodges and site are not really suitable for very young children so no-one under the age of 4 please unless it's been agreed beforehand.

The recently updated kitchen has a dishwasher, tall fridge/ freezer, electric oven with ceramic hob and a microwave and in the lounge there's a large smart TV and recently upgraded superfast Wi-Fi throughout. The recently renovated shower room has an electric shower and the water is mains, so no problem with pressure! There are heaters in all rooms and a log/coal burner in the living area.
The veranda is secure and provides some useful additional space for outdoor dining with great views.
Superfast Wi-Fi, toy box with games for young children and a table-tennis table, badminton net and swing-ball with equipment. The village of Hatherleigh is about 4 miles away with a good selection of cafes and shops. There's also pubs, supermarket + skatepark.
The lodges face south towards Dartmoor - with absolutely fantastic views. See our website for more photographs and details.

Highampton is a small village situated in Ruby country with it’s fantastic selection of trails for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The village of Hatherleigh is about 4 miles away and has a good selection of cafes and shops. There’s also pubs, supermarket and a new skatepark. The bustling town of Okehampton is a further 7 miles away. In the opposite direction about 7 miles away lies the pretty market town of Holsworthy with the beautiful beaches of Bude a further 9 miles away.

We are centrally places for all parts of Devon and Cornwall. The area is one of peace and tranquillity, so if it's a quiet base you want for your holiday, then Dartmoor View Lodges is the place to be.

Highampton is a small village with a pub, village hall, school and visiting post-office.

Hatherleigh and Holsworthy are larger and have all the amenities you need. Our site is quiet and tranquil and wildlife is plentiful. In the early morning it is quite possible that you will see deer grazing and there are usually a lot of rabbits around and foxes pay the occasional visit. Birds thrive and we regularly see woodpeckers, tree creepers and buzzards even occasionally a kingfisher. Butterflies are also attracted by the many wild flowers that emerge in the spring. Bats feeding at dusk are a common sight and we enjoy black skies due to very little light pollution - great for stargazing.

We had a great holiday, started with Andrew showing us to the log cabin to give us a quick run down of the lodge and supporting documentation, which we found really useful. Andrew then left stating if we needed any help with anything do not hesitate to call. The lodge was the cleanest and best equipped that we have ever stayed in, everything has been thought of. Views are amazing and wildlife abounds from birds to rabbits don’t forget to look out for the bats at dusk. Centrally based so easy access to the north and the south coasts and all that offers. Thanks again to Andrew and Sally for the opportunity to stay at such a great location.

The host Andrew met us and was lovely and welcoming. The lodge itself was just perfect, everywhere was spotless and it was so well equipped with high quality items. The beds were comfortable, the views to die for and I really cannot think of any negatives. We will definitely be back and I can recommend this lodge to anyone to stay in. Perfect

Fantastic location
Fantastic location
Brilliant two-week holiday with very welcoming hosts and perfect accomodation. Great location for cycling as a family on various off-road cycle paths in the local area (Tarka Trail, Granite Way) which it turned out was a great alternative activity to the beach on many days, especially in very hot July weather. Recommend the cycling cafe on the Tarka Trail at East Yarde. Sandymouth Bay became a favourite beach. Thank you for a great stay.

Wonderful log cabin in a stunning setting - the perfect way to relax and unwind! Location was brilliant for exploring both Devon and Cornwall, with both moorland and coast within easy reach. Easy to find thanks to the great directions from the owners, who were also super helpful on arrival. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay - I'm sure we'll be back!
