Ideal location for accessing Dartmoor, weather travelling by foot, car, bus or Train. The Station is adjacent to the hostel.Comfortable room,WiFi good, and plenty of walking and cycling from the doorstep.
The hostel is perhaps geared to large activity groups as opposed to individuals and families. The Self catering kitchen a little on the small side. However quite comfortable.

We had an amazing stay here where the location was perfect. I would have loved to stay longer but only stayed for 2 nights. It was selfcatering and everything was there that was needed. The beds were so comfortable that we slept like babies. The staff were polite and always there when we needed them. My children had a wonderful time.
Only the fact that there was no hot water in the shared toilets. I tried so much but was able to work out how the hot water would work. Had to give up at the end

Nice building in scenic location, good facilities and easy to park and find. Good value compared to price of surrounding accommodation
No beer allowed (according to signs)

The hostel kitchen and shared facilities were clean and functional, and the adjacent café did a good cooked breakfast that was a quick walk from the hostel.
The bathroom could have been cleaner and, given that the room looked directly onto the train station, a more solid curtain for privacy would have been nice.

Nice setting, nice old building. Room small but clean and comfy.
It would be good if the on-site shop could sell milk, as the hostel is not near any shops.

The games room,
The staff,
The closeness to the train station,
The lack of air conditioning or fans that made sharing a room with so many people very hot.
The cleanliness of the communal bathrooms could be improved.
The fressness of the bedsheets could also be improved.

Very helpful and friendly receptionist who gave us excellent directions to the local park so we could let our three kids run around after being stuck in a car for 4 hours due to traffic.
Excellent self catering facilitys.

Great position, good facilities
The only issue I had could not be controlled by you, a large group of people were still outside talking and eating at 2.50 am right outside our window. It was exceptionally hot so we could not shut the windows. I went down to ask them to be more considerate. They did respond appropriately.
I can’t believe that people who use these kind of facilities are so disrespectful of the rules and others

Great location, convenient check in, reasonable price.
No duvet covers, or pillow covers. Just plain. Also, the shower could have done with a soap dispenser.

A large number of a 20 strong motorbike group stayed here overnight.
The receptionist was top-notch and booked us in methodically without a fuss.
The whole place is clean, modern and well decorated. A lovely conversion of an old train station annexe building.
The room was a decent size with two pairs of bunks, a private bathroom including shower with plenty of hot water and pressure, just what you need after a sweaty day in the saddle.
The onsite cafe did lovely coffees because the reception machine needed to be cleaned and serviced. They were trying out the idea of cooking pizzas in the evening
The lady in the cafe kindly made me and my friends coffees in the morning despite not actually being open. Apparently, the pizza idea wasn't a great success. Maybe some promotion might help?
There is a large car park which, although not secure, is far enough from prying eyes due to the hostel's location that we didn't have any concerns re the security of our motorbikes.
It's quiet at night and the trains don't run too late.
The whole place makes you feel you're in the countryside which is nice.
Non operational coffee machine I'm reception when I was gagging for a coffee, but the gent in the cafe saved the day.
The laminate floor in our bedroom ( last on the right before the lounge upstairs) had gaps between the planks and the edges were starting to fur, not ideal when bare footed.
The bathroom extractor fan ran for a long time after turning off the bathroom light. Noticeable in such a quiet location
£79 for the room is still the best part of £20 per person if fully occupied. It gets expensive as room only when below capacity. That said we had the trifecta of being there on the Saturday night of a bank holiday weekend at the start of half term, so no doubt the price reflects that

Just a fab place to stay

Easy access, good parking, friendly staff, cafe on site plus breakfast is available in the main dining area if you want to buy. Ideal for a family group. Rooms have beds only, but very comfortable and with pillow and duvet. Plenty to do in the area around and near enough to walk to shops, pubs and cafes if you want. Good value for money and everything you need in the self catering area with fridges and cooking gear.
Very minor but not sure how cooking works if large numbers want to do at the same time, but it's not really a big issue.

Location was great and value for the money.
Hot water in the shower was not working and had to manage with just room temperate water.

Staff where super friendly, helpful & warm. A real community feel to the hostel which is perfect for us.
One improvement good be a small shelf for top bunks, that would be sooooooo helpful.

Good location
Friendly welcome at reception on arrival
We were woken by a group of noisy, swearing, drunk guests several times between 01:00 and 03:30 who were outside our room and even tried coming into our room numerous times as they couldn’t remember which was their room. They woke us again at 06:45 and continued shouting and swearing at each other as they reminisced about their previous evening as they were getting ready to leave.
The mattress was very thin and uncomfortable. The room and en-suite are ready for maintenance now it’s the end of the season.

The view on the morning was amazing if you walked up the hill, only an hour away from where we was going anyway
It was a small room & the beds were not comfortable at all. We were expecting at least a double bunk bed as we are a couple with kids & me & my partner had to sleep in separate single bunk beds.
We were glad it was just one night as none of us slept, later arrivers were also being loud so that kept us awake too.
Kids were worried about going the toilet with people walking up & down corridor.
Staff were friendly, we understand it was a hostel place but it would of been better if we at least had a double bed in there considering we reserved a family room

. Location wonderfull and staff couldn't do enough for us.
.As we arrived late the facilities weren't spotless..i.e loos a little untidy..the beds had plastic covers on so any time anyone moved when asleep it woke everyone else up. So not a great night's sleep
