Charming, modern amenities, exceptional staff

Spacious grounds, fire pit, easy access, close to Mendicino.
Cozy Cove Room: Bed springs shot, expected room to be more up to date, grounds unkept, screen door extremely difficult to open with duck tape around handle?, skirt of bed very dirty with splatters, shower very small, no trash can to throw away dog waste, Last day landscapers there all day cleaning grounds. Not worth the cost.

Liked the location and atmosphere
Had to switch rooms in the middle of the stay. 2nd room wasn't as nice. Owners did accommodate to the best of their abilities under the circumstances.

Nice room with comfortable bed. Location was convenient for the beach wedding we attended.
The walls are thin and we could hear the other guests dog barking and them moving around their room at 4 AM.

We enjoyed a lovely stay over the July 4th holiday weekend. Booked 2 rooms, one for me and my husband and the other for my mom. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed. The bed was SO comfortable - I slept very well every night. We've been to this area several times and even stayed at Sea Foam located right behind this property. Prefer this inn for the value and ease of self-checkin. Short drive to Mendocino and Fort Bragg. Highly recommended!
It was perfect.

The flowers onsite are truly outstanding. We loved the fire pit and tranquility. Being able to walk a short distance and trek down to the cove was unbelievable!
The mattress could stand to be replaced.

We had a wonderful stay at Inn at Buckhorn Cove! It’s a small, boutique property. We enjoyed the outside fire pit. Beds were really comfortable. The property is really close to Mendocino.

Dog-friendly. The room looked nice and seemed cozy. Great location, right off the freeway, close to town and other spots. Lots of potential, but unfortunately there were too many issues that took away from it. I'd be reluctant to stay again or recommend.
We requested early check-in via Booking.com, which forwarded our message to the property manager. We never heard back.
When we checked in (at the original/later time), there was a strong stuffy/musty smell throughout. This dissipated by the evening with some airing out, but we later learned from the property manager (when we reported a different issue; see below) that the room hadn't been occupied for two weeks. This explained the smell, but didn't explain why we couldn't have checked in earlier (nor why no one responded).
Although the room looked nice, it was a bit small/cramped for the price.
We found dead/dying ants all over the shower floor. We reported this to the property manager, who responded promptly with an apology, but didn't offer / send over housekeeping (which, according to the message sent to us before our stay, was available for extra towels or other needs), so we were left to clean this up ourselves.
The smoke detector in the room was missing. We reported this to the property manager as well. Again, an apology, but nothing done to fix it. This didn't leave us feeling very safe, and didn't seem up to code.
In the bathroom there was a dark wash cloth with the word "makeup" on it. Also on it was caked-on makeup that hadn't come out in the wash. I certainly wasn't going to touch that to my face. (Also reported this to the property manager, and again -- nothing was done about it.)
The coffee & creamer in the room were pretty terrible. Hotel room coffee is rarely great, but this was a new low. There were also no utensils to prep coffee with.
Though doggie bags were provided outside, the disposal bin was overflowing.
A week after our stay, I found the property had charged my credit card a second time for the full rental amount. They did refund this once I reported it to them, but still unnerving.

Clean and cozy.
Has a big bathroom with jetted tub. Very clean and has a beautiful view from the huge picture window. Very quiet! Location was great, close to beaches and places to eat.

Staff was very helpful and courteous. They helped to make our stay comfortable. The rooms were decorated with a cute theme. Loved the ocean view and the comfort of the king size bed.
When we moved onto the Cozy Corner on Tuesday, the linens were a bit damp but was able to dry things out. Also, we were never able to get the fireplace lit nor get the furnace to come on. The coffee pot should have some instructions as I couldn't figure it out. Also, the screen door needs to be replaced.

Coffee available and Anne was an angel in contacting office people, when we had the wrong key to room.
No coffee stirrers. When I checked in no one was there at 4:10pm. Drove to room & key didn’t work. Called Hank at 6:15pm and he said go back to office & hung up. The office closes at 6pm.

Our room was lovely, inviting, and very cozy. We very much enjoyed the vibe of the place and the proximity to the ocean as well as the nearby towns we came to explore.
I have no reservations about the choice we made in coming to the Inn at Buckhorn Cove.

Having a private kitchen saved us a lot! And the huge bathtub was great

The room was nice and we ended up having the property to ourselves the two days we were there.
The room was freezing when we arrived and the spare heater didn’t work. We had to wait while the gas fire place warmed the room. The outside light for the room also didn’t work, so it was very dark and we had to use light from our phones to see the door and open it with the keys. The whole property was actually very dark at night and it would have been nice to have it better lit, especially for pulling out of the driveway. Also, on Sunday night, there were what I assume to be staff members doing laundry in the laundry room and they were talking so loud, we could hear them right through our walls.

updated, cozy, close by, nice area and outside was kept nice
didn’t see remote for fire, some ants but not bad, need stir sticks for coffee

Loved the big picture window, the fireplace, and the jacuzzi tub. The Zen suite was clean and updated.
I liked everything. The only thing that could have made it better is if it had been beachfront property.

No breakfast was offered. Coffee was supplied. Only one tea bag was available
The room had a lovely view, was decorated nicely. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom spacious. But,
a big tub in a severe drought location gives mixed message imho.
Well there should have been more than one tea bag available.
It was disappointing to have very low batteries on the TV remote control. David took them out and
did something and then it worked slowly. Emphasis on enjoying tub and spa but in a severe drought, we wouldn't even consider the big tub. I took a quick shower. He did not. We're paying for things and encouraged not to use them.

For the price, it was better than expected.
Floors, toilet and shower were new and clean.
The room was large and spacious.
Outside area and facilities could be better maintained, but it did not impact our stay.
