Beautiful place!
If I had to complain about anything it would be the water pressure. Maybe get a different shower head, especially since it is so high up. Also, it said breakfast was included but it was not, there was an additional cost, we did not partake.

It’s a historic building with beautiful architecture.
The parking situation was awful, extremely limited. I had to park around the corner and drag my suitcase across a gravel driveway. The second building, which I stayed in had no elevator. I didn’t know this. I have very bad asthma so walking up multiple flights of steps is very hard for me. The cable tv went out the first night and never worked the rest of my stay. The first night my shower was fine but the second night there wasn’t enough water pressure for the shower. I tried for several minutes and ultimately got enough pressure for a trickle shower. But the pipes made noise the whole time. Lastly they took a photo copy of my drivers license which feels inappropriate by today’s standards as it could be a potential security risk for the guest.
The highlight of my stay was the bellman (I think his name was Rick) who carried my bag back across the gravel parking lot and up the multiple flights of stairs…all the while’s giving me a history lesson about the buildings.

It was kind of magical staying in this authentic historical property--with modern amenities, of course--on a couple of cold winter days.
Our room was large with a remote controlled gas fireplace, which we used a lot. We stayed on Monday and Tuesday, so we may have been the only guests--we sort of felt like we were living there. Our room faced Fifth Ave, and we had a beautiful view of the Cathedral of Learning (University of Pittsburgh) through the bare winter trees.
The main floor has a lovely bar, also with a beautiful fireplace, and other rooms you can explore and hang out in.
The owners partner with an art dealer who places paintings throughout the mansion, which are available for purchase. Guests are invited to explore the artwork throughout, which I thoroughly enjoyed. (Some info is provided about the artwork.)
The location and free offstreet parking were perfect.
The staff were helpful and friendly.
Because it is an authentic historical property it does have some quirks. For example, because it was January and very cold outside, you could feel drafts around the large windows. But the windows have gorgeous floor-to-ceiling drapes, which help with drafts, an extra space heater, and, of course, the lovely fireplace.
We felt the charm far outweighed the quirks.

We absolutely loved the main home and the Amberson House, where we stayed. The interior woodwork and stained glass windows are beautiful.
I understand they want to keep the flower beds beautiful but those high pitch deer repellent things are annoying. 🤣

Location and nice architecture
Indifferent staff at points . AC was barely working and nothing was done

Walking distance to Carnegie Mellon, Shady Side, with a historical ambience inside and out.
We have stayed there twice now and will stay there again if we can book it! The last time we were there they were not offering a cooked breakfast which was too bad. I hope it was just a seasonal thing and not permanent.

Mansions on Fifth is in a great location near Carnegie Mellon and UPitt. The neighborhood is also inviting and walkable. The property itself has a beautiful interior and my room had a very comfortable bed.
The young man who checked me out was not entirely friendly. Could have been because he was a student and just doing the job part time but it did sour my stay a little.

Charming 3rd floor room. Very comfortable bed. Gourmet coffee. Nice, talkative manager. Help with dinning ideas. Great location.
No butler present at check in to haul luggage to 3rd floor. Breakfast box was convenient but not great. Pub was not open first night. No lite bites at pub. TV was inoperable at check out.

This is an absolutely amazing place to stay, the location is great as well. My daughter was so excited to wake up on her birthday in a castle as she called it. Wish we could have stayed longer. Definitely intended on coming back
No complaints

Strikingly beautiful mansion outside and in! Gorgeous dark wood everywhere! Perfect location to Carnegie Mellon and downtown!!! Within walking distance was key! Beautiful home! Very unique and lots of great spaces. Room size and bathroom size large. Beautiful bar and lobby area. Felt like being in a house rather than hotel. Great morning breakfast deal too! Parking on site included in room cost which was a huge plus to me as well! This place made our trip feel extra special. Very memorable!
I do believe I ended up with a different room than I expected. I was supposed to get a room with a fireplace but ended up with a 3rd floor room without fireplace and smaller windows. That room not quite as charming as expected but huge so I wasn’t too disappointed ! Also staff did not service my room and I asked for full service but my bed was never made, coffee was not restocked, and they took our wet towels but didn’t restock the ones they took.

We had the "Luxury suite" which was a large room with a sofa. The bed was comfortable and everything worked well. The room was on the 3rd floor: note that the elevator only goes to the 2nd. They had enough parking space.

What a beautiful unique property. It was clean, everyone was polite. I was thankful to have a stay so convenient to visit Carnegie Mellon from. I really liked that I could place a breakfast order and have it ready in the morning to pickup. Would recommend.

Really cool hotel from a renovated mansion. Was pretty comfortable. Felt a bit run down.

The location is fantastic, conveniently close to all the key spots on campus. The surrounding area, especially the history of the house, is truly fascinating! During my previous stay, I was in the side building, but this time, I’m in the main building, and it has been an incredible experience.
The computer for check in was not having great performance, which was surprising.

It was a beautiful property. The room worked for what we needed. The shower was wonderful. The breakfast was very good and in line with other restaurants.
Parking was at a premium when we arrived Friday evening due to a wedding. There was a spot - it just took a little maneuvering to get it right!

We stayed for one night before seeing a Fall Out Boy concert, and I loved it. It is a beautiful property. Right off the street. But I didn’t hear a sound all night. The rooms were comfortable and very pretty. The woman at the front desk I spoke to when I checked in, was very friendly. Everything was clean. Normally I would think the price is kind of high for one night, but I thought it was fair for how beautiful it is. Breakfast was affordable and very good. Check out was effortless. And parking was free which is incredibly important to me because most people are going to have to use their car when they are traveling.

The mansion is charming; we had a wonderful corner room with sitting area
Comfortable at night too
I wish there was better access to food right on the property.
One evening we needed some supper and ended up going out to a nice Italian meal but we could have settled for lighter fare at the mansion, also when we checked out at 11, would have liked to be able to buy a breakfast sandwich
I realize you are not set up for food but you might considering offering some nice quality breakfast or lunch sandwiches (advertised to patrons) and see if you have any takers.

Building was beautiful and nicely located.
You don’t stay in the mansion, you stay outback in a older house. Not nearly as nice.

It was beautiful. The architecture inside was amazing. The staff was very friendly, and the rooms are clean. It is in walking distance from shops and restaurants.
The website said breakfast was included, but it was an additional fee, so we ate somewhere else.

The artistry embodied by the building, most of all, the warmth exuded by all the staff as well as their knowledge of Pittsburg.

The historic building and the charm of it. The free parking.
I can't understand how this hotel can be under the "luxury hotel" cathegory. No matter how many stars a hotel might be, in the end, it can only be as good as its employees are, and in this case, we believe it can't be considered a luxury hotel.
I have never given a bad review, this is my first bad experience in a hotel. We were not treated as guests, not a smile, not a single kind word from the staff. Half an hour before the check out time, a member from the staff entered to our room without knocking on the door, despite having a sign in the door that said "DO NOT DISTURB". This had never happened to us before. Thank God we were just brushing our teeth! When we did the check out, we complained about this, but never heard any apologies from the recepcionist. Totally unnacceptable!
We understand that we arrived before the check in time, but hotels usually let you leave your baggage or even let you know when the bedroom is ready so you can check in earlier. Not in this case. We returned after 3:00 pm to do the check in, but a wedding was being held that same afternoon, so staff was focused on that, and did not provide any explanations about how to access to our room (it was in another building) or other useful information that guests need to know about the amenities of the hotel. We were just given the cards to enter our room.
I could continue by saying that the bed was not made properly, the fitted sheet did not cover the whole bed... (picture attached).
We chose this hotel because it was my birthday and wanted a treat and to do something special. However, we were not able to enjoy any hotel amenities because of the wedding that was taking place that weekend. We were looking for this weekend for a long time and were very dissapointed with our stay.

The place was beautiful the staff was so friendly . I would love to come back and stay in the actual mansion next time.
That our room wasn't in the actual mansion but rather the mansion adjacent.

The bed was very comfortable, and the staff was generally nice. It's located in a great location in Pittsburgh, and it's very quiet overall. The breakfast options were okay; simply carafe coffee and fruits/muffins.
There were three major events (weddings) that occurred during our stay, and it essentially takes over the entire ground floor (lobby/bar area), making it awkward and slightly inappropriate to walk through. We only discovered a back staircase on the last night of our stay. Would have been nice to know this information before booking.
The elevator does not go to the 3rd floor, only to the 2nd. We were warned by another guest that the elevator may stop between floors without warning (it happened to them).
We were asked at the front desk, and signalled our desire for full service with housekeeping. This did not happen on the first day, we had to ask the 2nd day, and with this, they forgot to take the dirty towels. On the following days, they forgot to restock the supplies, left dirty towels, and did not take care to make the bed properly.
We had to slam our door shut in order for the lock to catch. There are no 'do not disturb' signs in the rooms, and when I asked at the front desk, I received a very curt, 'We don't do that here.'
The shower, at full, does not get hot.
There was a very loud explosion on the last morning of our stay, which caused a power outage for 1.5 hours. This is not the fault of the hotel, though no one checked on us or called us, and no one referenced this event, which is very odd.
The parking is fine and we always found a spot, though this is compromised when there is a major event onsite.
