    A pleasant stay
The room had all advertised amenities and was spotlessly clean. This is one of the few hotels in Oceanside that has a swimming pool not located at the front of the property by the busy road, so it was nice to relax in at the end of the day. I was pleased with my stay.
The staff were slow to respond when I asked them to store my suitcase for a few hours. I had to prompt them to lock it away in a secure place.

Everything was excellent. The only negative thing for me was that the chair and ottoman in the room were worn out and needed to be replaced.

I am extremely disappointed and dismayed at the facilities of the hotel and in the manner in which your daytime front desk staff conducts itself, Firstly, the "fitness center" is a disgusting, barely usable, unsanitary joke. It smells atrociously. I had to air it out for an hour before tolerating being in there for more than a minute. It smells as if hasn't been cleaned in years. The machines are ancient, missing parts, and show rust on the body. There are no free weights. I understand now why on the Booking listing there are no pictures of the room; because it is an embarrassment. Secondly, the breakfast is borderline inedible. Never before in my life had I seen or tasted bacon that so closely resembled paper thin strips of flavored rubber. The eggs - powdered. The yogurt - full of sugar. The waffles, mediocre. The coffee machine, awful and not maintained properly. The breakfast staff also needs retraining and a reality check. I initially sat outside in the outdoor breakfast seating area, but when I attempted to return inside to grab a condiment, I discovered the door was locked. Fortunately another patron was there nearby on the inside to open the door for me. I approached a staff member and told them that the door was locked, and he replied "you have to push it open". Really? Does he deign to imply that I am too stupid to understand how to operate a door? He hadn't even investigated to see if I had already been outside. We get to the door and he places a little metal bracket to hold the bar depressed. I am not sure this is even legal. Of course, he didn't not apologize or acknowledge that door was indeed locked from the outside.
Thirdly, and most importantly, your desk staff are rude, arrogant and subjected me and my mother to a verbal abuse that never in my life would I have expected, much less from the employees of a supposedly reputable establishment. I asked for a bottle of water and was told it was 2 dollars. I expressed displeasure at this, given that a) it is of the cheapest, no name plastic water bottle variety, and b) for the amount of money this hotel charges per night several water bottles should be complimentary. Perhaps 1 dollar I could understand, but 2 dollars is an egregious profit. It is not about the amount, it is the principle of the matter. At this point one of your employees proceeds to mock, deride and exclaim that "this is a business", as if that justifies anything that I had raised. I objected at this reason, and he then said "WHY DON'T YOU JUST LEAVE, JUST LEAVE", several times in an aggressive tone, with a cruel smile. He evidently was enjoying himself. This is absolutely, unequivocally, unacceptable behavior from a person working in the hospitality industry. He should be terminated from his position immediately... I told him he needed a reality check. He then offered to pay for the water himself, which of course in the end turned out be an empty, vapid utterance, since when I took him up on the offer, he fell silent and did nothing. So he was just posturing, taunting, and putting on a braggadocios and offensive show. It seems that the idea that a customer would find some aspects of the hotel he works at objectionable as intolerable. He quite literally was yelling and being belligerent. His two colleagues were silent and offered no moderation or assistance. Only after a while of deciding to ignore him, did another employee offer the possibility to break the rest of the reservation and allow us to change hotels without additional charge. We of course left to another hotel, where the service was proper and the price reasonable.
