We stayed at the property for 1 night in the off season. While it was the height of autumn/winter the Inn is undoubtedly super to stay in during the high season. Even in winter the place is well maintained outside.
We didn’t avail of the spa.
We arrived late (8:30pm) at the property and the reception was closed for the night. I contacted the property via Booking.com to explain this - with no response. When we arrived, They left out a key with a map to find our room with which there were no problems. We settled in for the night.
The following morning we went to reception for breakfast and met the receptionist (a male, who was presumably a different one to who was on duty the previous day), we provided our room number and explained we checked in late.
This clearly frustrated him and he told us we hadn’t been checked in properly and were flagged a no-show on Booking.com.
We had paid in advance via the website and so I couldn’t see how we could do anything different. I showed him the charge from booking.com at the time of reserving the room.
While eating breakfast (which adjoins the reception area) we had to listen to him complain that we weren’t checked in properly. Midway through breakfast I got a notification from my bank saying that I was charged the room rate again from Crowne Pointe. At which point I went back to reception highlighting this.
In a very exasperated way he again flagged we weren’t checked in properly he was dealing with issues with Booking.com as a result and promised that the card would be refunded quickly.
At this point we just wanted to check out and leave, before we did we decided to take a bike ride to the beach for a quick swim. Again, we felt we were just a nuisance, gave us forms to fill out and two keys. The wheel was flat on one of the bikes and so another key was provided.
We came back, checked out and left - glad to be heading to the next hotel.
After a few days I noticed the card hadn’t been refunded and so I emailed. No response, emailed again. Eventually received a note that the card would be refunded. I explained that every other hold released a hold/refunded a charge within 1-2 days.
Two weeks later I received a refund.
