Decent stay. Would probably stay there again.

It was clean and the staff were nice and friendly. They provided 2 bottles of water and 2 granola bars.

The shutters on the window didn't block out the exterior lights at night, the room was very light at night. The bathroom fan was very loud and there was no separate switch for the light to just use the light without the fan. There was no "Do Not Distrurb" sign to put on the door if I didn't want the cleaning to be done while I was still staying there. They cleaned the room on the 3rd day of my stay, which I didn't want... I didn't want them entering my room while I still had my things in there.

Decent for the price

Catrina Hotel was a basic accommodation, good value and centrally located. An issue was addressed promptly after it was brought to the front desk attention. Plenty of parking.

We were locked out of our room at 9pm, unpleasant experience resolved by a virtual assistant, if you have a problem navigating technology it could be a problem. My biggest pat peeve; one chair in a room occupied by two people really?

There was only a virtual front desk worker so you couldn’t really call for anyone.

Don't feel like staying at this place again.

Close to freeway and restaurants.

1. The refrigerator could not adjust the temperature. Since everything froze the first night, we tried to lower the temperature a few degrees. The next morning, there was a flood inside. 2. We stayed several days and needed to change bath towels, but the room service never came. 3. The shower room, liquid soap, and shampoo were horrible. The shampoo label said “Shampoo: Conditioner,” but it was shampoo only. When I finished washing my hair, it was not smooth at all. The soap made my skin dry after using it for several days. Both came in crummy plastic bottles without a pump. You have to open caps each time you use them. I can tell the hotel owner doesn't want to spend money on these soaps. We’ve stayed at this place several times before, and it was not like this. It seems the hotel owner has changed over the years.

It had a nice refrigerator and the sheets and towels were fresh and did not smell of any fabric scent. Great price for the location and as a solo woman traveler, I felt very safe. I liked the small lamps on each side of bed. Nice accent. The remodel was very well done. Large shower.

The window would not lock so I did not feel safe leaving my laptop in my room when I went out to visit family during the day. I would suggest they put a dimmer on the overhead lights in the room. Too bright. The fan/light in bathroom was loud - would be nice to have a choice of just light and no fan but I understand they need to vent the bathroom.

The bed was comfy, close to many places, and a bit of the common area.

Lady who checked us in was a bit rude and then the virtual check in was horrible. Nobody is really available to answer or respond to any questions. Check out was weird and never felt so neglected.

The location was convenient to what we were doing.

First they charged me twice and as of yet no one can help me refund the double charge. I will give them another day but my amusement with their incompetence is running low. Next... The name suggests it's a hotel which it is not. It is a motel and words have meanings! The chair in the room was filthy, like I didn't want to sit in it, filthy. The bed side table had loads of water rings from cups like no one had cleaned in. The bathroom had dirty corners and the shower door didn't stay shut without me holding it. The bed frame was metal and every time you rolled over it made loud metal sounds.

I liked that it was easily accessible to a lot of businesses near by.

It was kind of load at night but my room was closer to the street than the others. You can’t leave the blinds open because people passing by will look into your room.

Loved this place! Chic modern rooms and beautiful lobby decor

Driving up to the hotel it didn't look like much, but walking in to the lobby was a pleasant surprise! The decor was amazing... painting of Frida Kahlo, sugarskulls, and bright colors. We arrived late and used a techy video console to check in. It connected to a live desk clerk who walked us through check in and emailed us a door code for our room! The room was completely remodeled and modern, with ambient lighting, a huge TV, a Kuerig coffee maker, and a very comfortable bed,

The parking was a bit inconvenient. Not much space and we had to park in the back area and walk to our room.

Modern, clean, and budget friendly stay.

Modern, clean, friendly. Great location. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Drive to HMB about 40 minutes with traffic and the winding road. Overall very satisfied. I would come back again. Definitely pleased.

If I have to say anything I didn’t like, maybe no continental breakfast options. However you can grab something with the money you save.

My go-to in San mateo.

From the front desk to the housekeeping staff, everyone was wonderful. The rooms are in great condition and everything I needed worked well and satisfied every need I had. It's a great value for the price and I have paid more for less. I highly recommend the Catrina went in San Mateo.

The floors can get a little dirty but that's expected with hardwood floors and my wife always insists I use foot coverings in a hotel anyway.

Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. It was quiet in the evenings. Microwave and fridge in the room.

Room could use a chair, which has been mentioned in other reviews. There is a desk, but no chair. Could also use a bit more lighting. The 2nd day, there was power washing in the parking lot and outside of the building which was noisy and made it awkward to get to the room. We could have planned ahead if given a heads up.

TV worked, bed comfortable. Check in was easy and convenient, the technology was a nice touch.

Noise, 2nd night the neighboring unit was up till 3-4 in morning cursing, etc. No Chair for desk, so if wanted to sit and do work, couldn’t. Bathroom Sink Hand towel fixture detached from wall, maintenance issue. Mold in Bathroom, shower and window area, condensation and wetness inside the window, not sealed. Because of this the bathroom door sticks and my son was trapped in the bathroom area. Easily avoidable, just didn’t close fully for remainder of stay. Basically remodel put lipstick on the pig, however, still a pig.

Very cute place!

The aesthetics of the hotel was so cute! The decor was even in the hotel room itself. The beds were very soft and comfortable. The design and layout of the room was great. We parked right in front of our window so we had great view of our car. Bathroom had all upgraded equipment. It was very nice. Will definitely come back when I’m in the area.

I liked how close the hotel was to a shopping center and access to freeway. Facility was clean and had free parking.

It was just so, so.

Location was great. Manager was very helpful. Plenty of great parking spaces. Mostly quiet.

Metal skirt around bed that bags when your feet hit it. Water standing in bathroom sink because of a poorly designed sink and drain. Bathroom door did not latch and lock easily. Shutters did not keep light out in the morning.

The room was very clean & neat. Looks very nicely updated. It didn’t match the pics I found on the website which is why I booked it. The website showed catrinas as the main theme, but I only saw a few in the lobby. Nothing in the room. Although the decor was nice.
