Great location and great price

Location was great and staff was very friendly. Check in/check out process was very smooth & they also are able to store your luggage after check out. They offer free breakfast & you can also store your own food in the fridges. Luggage bins in the room are plenty big for keeping your bags there. The bathrooms are all private. Great place to stay!

Travel Hostel in a Great Location

Very friendly and helpful staff! The location is right next to Pike Place and a Target. Being able to rent a towel and a padlock (for your room locker) was very thoughtful. They had a lot of different activities planned throughout the week; the effort and energy they put forth to being welcoming and inclusive did not go unnoticed.

The mattress was so thin, it felt like sleeping on the ground unfortunately.

Great value but still space to improve

This was my third time here, love the location still and the overall vibe.

I thought they could wash the blanket more often. There were other people’s hair on it and it caused allergies reaction to my nose so I ended up not using it at all.

Great Hostels for solo or couples

Location was ideal for trekking on foot around the City. The crew did a great job trying to keep the place neat, clean, and orderly.

The refrigerator space was cramped. The room could have a couple more hooks within each bunk bed to hang our clothes or towels.

The wife and I are in our '70's. Didn't know we needed to reserve a lower bunk! Were all gone when we got there 3pm. Pulled the mattress onto the floor and slept great.

Great location!

Everyone was friendly and cooperative. Our bed was clean and comfy-cozy. Breakfast was nice. The special "nights", ( wine, taco, etc.), we're great, if you showed up at the appointed hour.

We had a guy in our room who vaped, ate and drank in the room. It was uncomfortable for me, and I was unaware of how to address it. Hostel Etiquette? Never had to wait for a bathroom, and the were kept clean.

Central, clean, friendly and engaging!

Really central location right by pike place market, super friendly staff, lots of amenities and things to do. I could see staying here for a longer time. Sharing a room was totally fine and all of the bathrooms are individual and private with great facilities.

The breakfast offerings could have been a bit better/more convenient but otherwise I really liked it!

The Gem of Seattle

The best hostel I've stayed in, just unbeatable in all respects! Stayed in major cities, but nothing compares with The Green Tortoise - it's a gem, a revelation! The rooms are big and even when I stayed in a 6-bed room, I had plenty of space to move around. Beds are huge and cozy with curtains around them for privacy, a dedicated spot light, and a fan, and yes, the room has an air conditioner. The mattress is very comfortable, the sheets are soft, and each bed has four, yes, four soft pillows. There are multiple private toilets and showers (with rain heads) on the floor for guests to use. With a relatively affordable rate, it provides free breakfast, dinner (on selected evenings), and free beer 🍻 out of their generosity. Green Tortoise 🐢 is hard to beat with its affordability, quality of service, outstanding staff, facilitues, and for its strategic location in the middle of the action. And yes, it's super clean and sanitary! Thank you, staff of The Green Tortoise Hostel - I had the best two days with you.

Great location right by the pier Helpful staff Events every so often Tours start right from the hostel

No elevator and they don’t even have a luggage area downstairs so you can drop your luggage and maybe carry a day pack with you. Staff does help you with it (although felt like they were forced to do that and didn’t actually want to - but then I get it) but there’s no call button so you’ll have to leave your luggage at the door while you go up to call someone (the door was open and there were people sitting on the street right by the door, felt unsafe). I had reserved a second booking but cancelled it only because of this luggage thing. Way too many stairs to manage a big bag on your own. They need to rent at least a small space on ground floor to keep luggage as that’d easily sort this out.

Good position, the size of the room is ok. As a couple, it was good to have a double bed with curtains. Breakfast was ok. We tried the washing machine ans the service was ok. Good amount of washroom, weel cleaned.

Great value in a fun location

Amazing location in the heart of all the city happenings, and we appreciated the discount on nearby 24 hour parking. Fun, friendly place and it was so great that they offer breakfast!

It was very hot in there (no A/C or fans) and it was a bit cramped in a full room. Not a whole lot of room beyond the beds for opening your backpack and dealing with stuff.

A mixed bag

Good location, friendly staff, breakfast included, two pillows on the beds. They're curtains between the beds that add a little privacy. Not purpose built bods or high quality, but better than nothing.

Price, one of the most expensive hostels I've stayed in the USA or anywhere. Make your own bed at that price! Pay extra if you want a towel? The fans in the room, yeah if you want Industrial level noise pollution.

The location was excellent. And quite clean.

In our early 50’s, we’ve never stayed at a hostel. While we didn’t mind sharing a room, we did have a top bunk which was rather difficult, it was pretty warm and the fan was too noisy to leave on. The window was open (as it needed to be) so it was pretty noisy. Also, awkward to get in at 9:30pm and have multiple people already asleep in the room. Putting away everything and getting organized in the dark was not easy.
