Vancouver Luxury Homestay

The house was beautiful and the location was ideal in a great neighbourhood a few minutes away from the airport. The host was so efficient and helpful!

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Poor Communication and Unhygienic Conditions DO NOT LET THE PICUTRES FOOL YOU. There was no communication from the property regarding the check-in process, door code, or any instructions prior to arrival, despite the listing stating that this would be provided. I waited for over two hours before eventually knocking on the door, where a woman told me to go to “room 1.” The contact phone number listed was disconnected. Messages sent to property were not answered! The kitchen and surrounding areas—both inside and out—were in complete disarray, very messy and dirty. It was stressful and gave me a headache just being in the space. Although the property describes itself as a B&B, I was scolded for using one of their plates to eat my own sandwiches. The host knocked on my door to reprimand me, saying they do not provide food or kitchen use. I was asked to clean the plate and then told to move my car—all without any written or verbal instructions beforehand. The host’s attitude was unnecessarily harsh and made for a very unpleasant experience. Additional issues included: Bed was too soft and uncomfortable. Refrigerator in the room was unplugged, left at room temperature with old food inside—including meat, drinks, and eggs. Bathroom floor was not clean and had visible hair. The listing claimed to have air conditioning, but it was central air and not individually controllable. It was off during my stay. The room was also not carpeted, which felt misleading given the “luxury” description in the listing. There is absolutely nothing luxurious about this stay. I do not recommend this property to other travelers.

Our room and the area was really nice. The bathroom was clean and I appreciated having a lock for our room.

The house appeared to be constantly unlocked. We were never sent check in information so we were unsure about our room access, or how to get into the house and simply tried to get in.

Was not what it was advertised to be there was dishes in the same kids toys laying all over very disorganized

Room was clean and tidy

Few facilities mentioned in the description were missing. The house did not allow shoes inside, but didn't provide slippers /didn't show us if there were any slippers for guests even though "slippers" were mentioned in the description. Secondly, there weren't any refrigerator in this room, but it was mentioned in description. Thirdly, which living area was supposed to be shared was not clarified upon arrival. We were waiting at the living at the entrance and that's when the host told us to move away. Kitchen was just okay.

Near airport, near shopping areas, the T/bus station to connect to Skytrain, the bedroom had a private bathroom. A housekeeper came by daily to clean. Wifi connection was great. Percolator and cups in the room. Owner was ok when she was there, but not always present and hard to reach.

NO AIR CONDITIONING contrary to listing. Second floor bedroom was hot, the fan that was provided did not work so well. If I had known that we would be staying for a whole week with no AC, I might not have booked this in the first place. No shared dining or common areas, it seemed more like someone's private home. Bed was hard and uncomfortable, no "cooling" sheets/pillow (no double pillows or extra linens offered). There was one small table and one desk chair, wish there had been more places to sit. The towels provided were only one per person and they were very thin -- no mention or offer of changing towels or linens daily if needed. The extra "bed/cot" they provided had a very thin mattress/pad on it, it was not sufficient padding. NO DOOR CODE PRIOR TO CHECK IN/OWNER not present or easily reached. We made sure to arrive after 1pm check-in time, but has not received anything via email or booking.com message. We had no way of getting in. Stood outside for a long time, rang bell, no answer. Finally someone (one of the other guests (?)) opened the door for us. Brought this up to the owners attn on the 2nd day, and she said, "I have a camera, when I see you at the door I'll buzz you in." It still seemed strange but we accepted that she would buzz us in even if we came back very late. But then on 3rd or 4th day when we did come back late, and couldn't open the door, we managed to contact the owner. Then finally a door code was provided, found this very odd Laundry - not free to use as needed. First day we had to do laundry and had put in a load to wash. The owner came by, saw this and said "You can't use the machines on your own, you should ask or message me via booking.com, and we can do it for you." I apologized but pointed out that there were no signs/ instructions in the laundry area about their laundry policy.

check in was OK; building is pretty new; location sold the place to me, easy access by car to airports and 10 minutes walk to local Blundell shopping lot.

garden was a mess, didn't dare to access it at all via the living room, see pictures no key was provided to the room, could be locked only from the inside by a latch I stayed for 13 nights, had to call host on day 10 to provide fresh bed linen & towels no cleaning performed during my stay as far as I'm concerned

I thought it was a hotel, turns out it’s a family home. I was expected to pay on the spot by cash or etransfer. Not very professional.

Location was fine in a neighborhood in Richmond

1. Security was not what I expected. We were told the front door is left unlocked throughout the night and day, but there are cameras everywhere. Certainly, did not leave me feeling secure in the house where anyone can come and go. There is no way to lock the bedroom door and leave the house. So be aware to leave any valuables inside your room when you leave the premises. Thankfully, the bedroom door could be locked from the inside. 2. The arrival instructions were non-existent. 3. Got ready to shower and started the water before getting into the tub. Saw body hair in the tub. Unfortunately, I cannot give high marks for this booking. Security and Cleanliness were the downsides. The positive points were: It was in a quiet neighborhood Quiet home

It was a place to put out head down after a long flight and it was comfortable enough

My booking said there was a code to get in so when I didn't receive one I messaged the host, got no response so I called twice without reply. So we drove to the house and stood on the porch not knowing what to do. Finally he answered not identifying himself to us but kept asking us "did you pay". He didn't even apologize after I said that my booking said there was a code to get in and I was visibly up set. It was late and we had just came off an overseas flight. Just wandered what would have happened if he wasn't home. No personal touches at all. I would not recommend this place even for 1 night.

She never told me that it was let yourself into a private home in a big neighborhood. Thought I was in the wrong house and had to call her which would have been easy for her to tell me when first chatted in

The host did an amazing job with her apartment. Meets expectations and more.

Comfortable bed, within 5 min walk to bus stop, quiet neighbourhood. Private room

Guests are not allowed to use the stove top or the oven?Only a tiny microwave oven ? So we had to throw out our dinner we had purchased and planned to cook.. There was no comfortable communal area as full of Toys and owners clutter. It was a late arrival and early departure so no problem but I wouldn't feel comfortable staying for more than that.
