Hotel Belley

Easy access to Old Town. Close to the train station. Plenty of eating places close by

Flat was really nice and quiet, well-equipped and larger than expected. Nice coffee machine and good table for eating and working

The stairs are steep and the front door a bit sticky and unfortunately the terrace was out of commission, but we were out most of the time, so those were not big issues.

The amenities were impressive, including an iron, hairdryer, gels and lotions for bath, wine glasses and a Nespresso machine for coffee. The location was wonderful and I simply rolled my bags in from the cruise ship terminal (the new one, which is further away). I arrived at 10 AM (Note: There is no reception at Belley, you need to go to the nearby Hotel St. Paul) and was expecting to leave my bag, but they said they did have a room ready, so I was able to get in before the afternoon check in. Very helpful and attentive receptionists. Bed and bedding were comfortable and I appreciated the many towels and wash cloths. They also booked a taxi in advance to take me to the airport, which worked out well. Taxis have fixed rates to the airport as opposed to Ubers.

It was extremely noisy the first night (a Saturday night) due to noisy guests and it sounded like people were inside the room. Lots of creaks of the building itself. I was using earplugs and a noise machine. The second and third night, I slept better knowing no one was coming inside my room, and the noise was less. Recommend to bring earplugs and find a white noise setting on your phone.

Good location

There were too many stairs and it was very difficult for me to carry my luggage to the room. There was no cleaning provided for the room which I didn’t realise when I booked.
