About this bed and breakfast
It is rare to discover a property that is both historic and truly unique. Tan-yr-Ogo Lodge is a striking castle built as part of a series of lodges designed to serve Gwrych Castle, originally functioning as the main ceremonial entrance to the estate. The name Tan-yr-Ogo, more accurately Tan yr Ogof, translates to "beneath the cave" and is situated beneath Lady Emily’s Tower and the impressive Cefn yr Ogof cave, all within the Gwrych Castle Estate. Gwrych Castle itself is a vast 250-acre privately owned estate perched on the north Wales coast, offering breathtaking views over the Irish Sea.
Our lodge is located in Llanddulas, on the grounds of Gwrych Castle, in one of the most scenic parts of North Wales. The area is rich with historical monuments, scenic walks, castles, charming tourist towns such as Llandudno and Conwy, and the stunning landscapes of Snowdonia National Park. All these attractions are within easy reach, just an hour and a half by car or train to Liverpool and Manchester. The lodge is conveniently situated less than five minutes’ drive from Junction 23 of the A55 and lies along the A547 road. There are two bus stops directly outside the main gates, providing access to key routes. The nearest railway stations are Colwyn Bay and Abergele-Pensarn, both approximately 10 minutes’ drive away. Please note that no commercial vehicles, motorhomes, or caravans are permitted to be parked on the property. This historic lodge offers a peaceful location with easy access to the best of North Wales and beyond.
