Sol House Madrid

A localização para quem quer estar bem situado no centro de Madri é excelente: metrô praticamente na porta e perto de tudo. No entanto, o barulho compromete o sossego do sono.

It took a while to find the entrance as it is not clearly signposted and does not have a hotel name above the front door. No reception and the phone number I had went straight to voicemail so could not get hold of anyone to speak to, to let me in or give me the room keys. I emailed them whilst outside, managed to follow someone into the lobby, and was eventually met by a lovely lady who showed me the room and gave me the room key. Language barrier, we got round. But it is finding the hotel entrance and getting in, in the first place, that needs some clarification on the website or when getting the booking email. Location is superb. It's cheap and cheerful but does give value for money given the central location. I would stay again now I know how to find it and get in the place. Very friendly host should also get a mention. No english speaking staff but that was ok and not a problem as relevant things were demonstrated manually (e.g. how to lock the bedroom door from the inside, how to use the lift). First thing that attracted me was the low cost compared to other hotels in the area - but when I got there it was the central location that really stood out. I hadn't realised the locality was as good as it actually is when I booked it.

Already stated challenges about initially finding the entrance and getting hold of someone to speak to about getting access and hold of the keys. Room is basic but clean and does the job for the price you pay. You can hear the noises down the corridor (other guests) as there was a noticeable gap under the bedroom door - so I'd suggest something could be done about soundproofing the bedroom door to reduce external corridor noises from other guests. Other than that, if you need a bed and shower to use as a base to explore central Madrid, then this is a cheap and functional place with out any frills. No breakfast but that's ok as there are loads of places to eat given the central location.
