A Hidden Retreat in the Dutch Dunes

Welcome to our detached dune cottage, a truly unique place where nature, peace, and complete privacy come together. During your stay, you’ll have exclusive use of both the cottage and the garden—you’ll never share the property with other guests.

The cottage (approximately 50 m² / 540 sq ft) is located directly beside the protected dunes of Egmond and offers beautiful views across the surrounding landscape. From the living room, you can watch horses grazing in the meadow, while riders occasionally pass along the quiet bridle path just 20 meters from the garden gate on their way into the dunes.

Inside, the cottage features a cozy living area, a well-equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet, and two comfortable bedrooms, each with a double bed.

The cottage is surrounded by a natural garden of approximately 200 m² that blends seamlessly into the wild dune landscape. Whether you prefer sunshine or shade, you’ll always find a peaceful spot to relax, read a book, enjoy a glass of wine, or simply listen to the sounds of nature.

The surrounding dunes are home to an abundance of wildlife. With a little luck, you may encounter deer, rabbits, foxes, Scottish Highland cattle, and an extraordinary variety of birds, including nightingales, owls, woodpeckers, birds of prey, crows, and many other species. This exceptional combination of tranquility, nature, freedom, and complete privacy is rare in the Netherlands and is the main reason many guests choose to stay here.

Beach, Dunes, and Cities

From the dune cottage, you’ll find yourself surrounded by nature and on the beach in just a few minutes. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the wide, white sandy beach, take a refreshing swim in the North Sea, or explore the beautiful North Holland Dune Reserve on foot or by bicycle.

The location is also perfect for day trips to the historic cities of Alkmaar and Amsterdam, where you can enjoy picturesque canals, museums, shops, and restaurants.

This is not a brand-new vacation home, but an authentic dune cottage that has been part of this landscape for many years. Its character and charm are very much part of the experience. Because the cottage is surrounded by nature, you may occasionally see a spider, an ant, or another harmless insect indoors. As with many older cottages, there are also signs of age and weathering, such as some worn wood or a small crack in a window.

If you’re looking for modern luxury and flawless perfection, this may not be the right place for you. But if you dream of waking up surrounded by nature, enjoying complete privacy, and stepping directly from your garden into the dunes, you are likely to fall in love with this special place.

The cottage:
Maximum number of guests: 4

The living room:
a dining table that seats 6 people, a sofa, a comfortable armchair, and a cozy fireplace. There is also a gas heater.
Wi-Fi available.

The bathroom:
1 shower, toilet, and sink with a mirror and a small cabinet.

The 2 bedrooms: each has a double bed, and one of them has some closets.

The kitchen: standard kitchen kit including a dishcloth, dish brush, sponge, cleaning supplies, trash bags, etc. The kitchen has hot and cold running water, a microwave, gas stove, oven, refrigerator, espresso machine, coffee maker, and various kitchen utensils.

Around the house is a lovely terrace where you’ll always find a nice spot to sit.

Garden: in summer, it’s full of wildflowers, and features a large dining table, plenty of chairs, a couch, a parasol, and a spot to build a cozy fire in the evening for warmth.

Cycling: In the village of Egmond-Binnen, you can rent bicycles. We have maps of cycling routes and hiking trails in the area.

In the dunes near the house, there is a soccer field and a playground.

Car: You can park in the lot marked “P for permit holders,” a one-minute walk from the house.
