Uppercourt Manor

Found this place by accident and it was a total surprise. They had only been open for 3 weeks and were still working on other areas of the property. The period furniture and restoration was amazingly luxurious. We felt totally out of our depth. The buffet breakfast even came with Proseco one moring and we had a waiter every day. The use of communal dining and lounge rooms allowed us to meet other guests and chat. Very close to Kilkenny

The lack of TV and internet could be considered a bonus or a negative. Similarly the adults only status.

It was a little out of the way but the price was good. Driving up to the place was a little unnerving as it looked like an abandoned institution and there was no signage to indicate that we had arrived at the B&B. The reception area was also deserted, and we had to wait a couple of minutes for someone to arrive. Once we were greeted however things went fairly smoothly. It was an INTERESTING place. The breakfast was good and the server was very friendly. Great coffee machine.

The room did not have a hair blower, coffee/tea, or a TV. None of this was the end of the world but they would have been appreciated.

Amazing manor house. Nice to stay. Getting restored. Staff were helpful but obviously not well trained yet.

Signage was non-existent. Impossible to find. The map supplied by booking.com was wrong. Finally had to ring. No answer for the first three calls, then finally got directions and indication of where it was. Found there was not even a sign on the front gate. On that call we also got the key code for the gate which was not previously supplied in any details in the booking. Our room was clearly not finished yet. Suspect the place is open to get some income.
