Located on the unspoiled southwest coast of the Algarve, Salema is a small fishing village where life is still at a leisurely pace. Once known primarily for its local fishermen, Salema has carefully preserved its traditional character, welcoming visitors who come in search of its natural beauty, calm atmosphere, and authentic charm. The beach has been recognised for its clean waters and family-friendly aspect. At the western end, you can even see the prints of dinosaurs preserved in the rock - proving that the beach has been popular with visitors for many years!
Despite its peaceful feel, Salema offers excellent local restaurants, small cafés, and essential shops, all within easy walking distance. Evenings are calm and sociable, often ending with a sunset stroll along the beach, a cocktail, or a relaxed dinner overlooking the ocean.
Salema is not about crowds or nightlife; it is about slowing down, enjoying nature, and experiencing the Algarve the way it used to be.
