Modern 3 bedroom Apartment, Sleep 5

The 1st floor apartment was very clean and looked newly refurbished with new furniture. The instructions for entry came very quick and the host made contact within the hour to confirm how to access the property.. there was a seating area in the kitchen and some cold bottles of water in the fridge. Neighbourhood was quiet. Overall pleasant.

Staircase was quite steep and was not suitable for my elderly parents or suitcases. But if you are young ,fit, have a ruck sack or small bags and no children with you then it's ok. Also parking was not always available outside and had to park around the corner sometimes like when I arrived, meaning you need stop in the middle of the road to unload your car and passengers then look for parking and walk back to the property.

We needed a one night stay not far from Hatfield as we were attending the Battle Prom. I needed to accommodate my wife and me, our son and his daughter aged 15. The place description fitted. I liked the location: a quiet residential street: not noisy and with free parking even if a bit congested. The towels were nice and fluffy. And it had been cleaned and prepared well.

None of us could get the wifi to work. So no communications. I tried everything and could find the 3 supplier but nothing connected. We got in OK: but I resent the current brinkmanship where Booking.com does not allow you to know how to get into your apartment until late. The final instructions arrived at 0907. I had the car packed by then and worried that I had paid nearly £300 for the night and did not know if I had access. There were no tea towels: there was no draining area or even draining board. There were no oven gloves. There were no glass bowls for mixing an omelette. There was no whisk. I felt that the apartment was only half equipped. My wife who is 77 would not use the shower: no anti-slip mat or grab handle. I risked it and I am 80. My wife said she could not get into the bath to have a shower anyway! What could have been a pleasant stay spoiled: by lack of thought.
