Sweeping views of the Mussel Ridge Channel, Owls Head harbor and the Atlantic Ocean from every window. Enjoy the gentle, soothing sound of the ocean while you relax in this unique, stylish cottage. Perfect for a small family or couples wanting a relaxing vacation.
Just 18 feet from a secluded, clean and private pebble beach; Castlewood Cottage is cozy, quintessential Maine coast cottage. It sits almost in the beach, but still allows for privacy. It was completely renovated recently and is beautifully appointed. Exquisite detailing throughout!
New kitchen with granite counter tops, new appliances (dish drawer, microwave drawer, gas stove and oven, refrigerator, Keurig and toaster. Outside there is a stainless steel, gas grill to prepare a perfect meal while taking in the view.
The living room has a 51” Flatscreen Smart TV, Hampton Gas Stove, and a back up Rinnai heating system. The sun porch serves as a dining area, but also has a small day bed for additional sleeping. (1 person)
The main level has a full tub/shower bath, as well as, a cozy bedroom which offers a double bed.
On the second floor, you will find the Primary Suite- a King size bed, two dressers, a large closet, washer and dryer, a 51” flat screen TV, a 1/2 bath, and a comfortable sitting area with breaktaking views.
Throughout the cottage is WiFi, Direct TV, Airplay Surround Sound and Apple TV.
Castlewood Cottage is walking distance to the Owls Head Post Office, the Owls Head Lighthouse and the General Store (home of Food Networks award winning “Seven Napkin Burger.”).
Owls Head is also minutes from downtown Rockland, for all major restaurants, (including Primo, recipient of the 2013 James Beard Award), museums, library, movie theatre, food shopping, galleries and boutiques. The cottage is also 13 miles from downtown Camden Maine; perfect for sunset sails, lunch on the docks and charming shops.
Drive to Birch State Park, The Samoset Resort & Gold Club in Rockport and the Owls Head Transportation Museum.
The Knox County Regional Airport : 7 min away
Bus lines to Boston leave from Rockland.
Private road with long drive way and ample parking.
BEACH CLASSIFICATION: We have categorized this property as having or being near a sandy beach. More specifically for this property - there is a private beach steps away. The closest public beaches are Crescent Beach, Birch Point Beach State Park, and Crocketts Beach are within 5 minutes from the property. You can walk a 1/2 mile to Owls Head State Park Lighthouse where there are some small beaches as well.

The house was perfect for us. It was clean and comfortable and well appointed. The location is private and the views are spectacular. Nice beach too. We will definitely stay there again.

Waking up to sunrise over the water and nearby harbor is so nice. The house has everything possibly needed if you just want to chill out at home, which we did frequently, and we're not talking about garage-sale finds for pots, pans, dishware, cooking utensils, etc. It is all very nice stuff and the kitchen has good, quality appliances, too. The entire home is absolutely nice inside and out. Well cared for. The bed was quite comfy which is very important to a good trip. Although it seems remote, it is not more than 15 minutes' drive to a number of decent places to eat. If you want to explore, the sky is the limit in the area. We've been to Maine a number of times though and do tire quickly of the salty prices for very average food. Nonetheless, we had plenty of it though. We found many restaurants do not keep advertised hours meaning they were closed when we got there. This led to at least one amazing discovery for food and another on the exact opposite end of the desirable spectrum! It was the end of the season when we arrived, so some places mostly just shutdown.The owner, Gordon, was thoughtfully communicative about travel, check-in and was hands-off after we arrived (thanks). This is great place to stay and is every bit as beautiful as any of the photos. We highly recommend this property. You'll be far happier here than being stuck in any of the nearby tourist trap communities. Thank you again for this beautiful property.
