About this cottage rental
A fully self-contained, private holiday cottage in a newly refurbished nineteenth-century granite steading in rural Aberdeenshire.
With its own entrance, enclosed garden and off-road parking, The Wheelhouse offers peaceful, comfortable accommodation for a relaxing countryside break. Attached to our home but completely separate, you will have exclusive use of the space throughout your stay.
Dog friendly and ideally located for exploring, it is popular with hillwalkers, cyclists and wildlife enthusiasts, and within easy reach of beaches, castles, distilleries, Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms.
The Space
Nestled into the hillside and surrounded by fields, The Wheelhouse sleeps up to 4 guests and one well-behaved dog, with beautiful views and a calm rural setting.
The open-plan living space includes a newly fitted kitchen with dishwasher and a farmhouse dining table. We provide tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk, sugar and basic cooking essentials (oil, salt and pepper). Double doors open onto the private garden, perfect for al fresco dining.
The cosy sitting area has two comfortable sofas, a smart TV and a selection of books and games. Free guest WiFi is available (speed can vary due to our rural location).
Underfloor heating runs throughout, and Pawsafe non-slip flooring helps keep both you and your dog comfortable after a day outdoors.
A separate utility area includes a washer-dryer, iron and ironing board, plus a Mud Daddy for muddy paws, boots or bikes. Laundry and dishwasher supplies are provided.
The bathroom features a freestanding bath, separate shower, heated towel rail, toiletries and fluffy white towels.
There are two bedrooms, each with a king-size bed, cosy bedding, hairdryer and lovely views.
Outside & Access
Guests have exclusive use of:
A private entrance
An enclosed garden area with seating for outdoor dining or a sunset drink
A dedicated gravel parking space for one car (additional parking available on request)
The garden is newly created and still being planted, but already offers a peaceful space to relax and enjoy the surroundings. You will often see sheep or cattle grazing nearby, along with local wildlife including hares, deer, foxes, buzzards and kites.
If steps from the parking area are a concern, please let us know — we can offer an alternative parking option.
Good to Know

A car is recommended due to our rural location
One responsibly managed dog is welcome
The garden is enclosed but not guaranteed to be escape-proof. Livestock are present in neighbouring fields, so dogs must be supervised and prevented from chasing or barking at animals. Dogs likely to jump fencing should be kept on lead.
The property is supplied by a private water source, which is filtered and sterilised on site.
A Ring doorbell is in place at the front door for security.
