The absolute waterfront haven features a beautiful camp kitchen designed with a rustic and vintage feel that opens via French doors onto a north-east facing deck. The kitchen is equipped with a solar-powered electric fridge, a gas hob, a large BBQ on the deck, a table and chairs, and all the crockery, cutlery, and cooking utensils guests will need. Behind the kitchen is a lovely bathroom with a hot shower, a sink, and a wonderful old-fashioned flush toilet.
The beautiful white safari tent is pitched on an antique Kauri wooden floor and looks across the river towards the rising sun. The tent has a luxurious super king bed, cozy linens, and vintage furnishings.
With a wander down to the riverbank, guests will discover their own private and romantic outdoor bath perched overlooking the river, complete with hot running water, and shaded by ancient Pohutukawa trees. If glampers are feeling energetic, their own private jetty on the river is equipped with a canoe and is perfect for fishing, swimming, or simply gazing at the passing river.
Candles and lamps provide atmospheric lighting in the tent and solar panels provide power for the lights in the kitchen and bathroom, the electric fridge, and a charger point for cameras and phones.
This accommodation is only available between September and May.
Glampers will find their exclusive site equipped with everything they will need to relax in style. The tariff includes a private jetty, canoe and fishing, free to use at your leisure as well as your own private and romantic outdoor claw foot bath perched in a stunning setting on the river bank. There is also a deluxe hot tub on-site for guests to enjoy; the option to enjoy delicious meals delivered right to their accommodation as well as relaxing massages and spa treatments. All three require pre booking.
Glampers can explore the beautiful 5 acre sub tropical gardens, peaceful and unspoilt Takou River, perfect for fishing, kayaking and swimming, and our beautiful 150 acre organic farm with walks along the river, through organic pastures and native bush to secluded swimming and picnic spots. And last but not least, the beautiful and deserted sandy beaches a short paddle downstream at Takou Bay.
There is Wi-Fi available for guests to use at the main guest office. There are also shared laundry facilities.
