Heeren By The River

Located in the centre of old Melaka. Could walk to everything and the come back to cool down and recover. Staff were very friendly. Lovely historic building.

Being so central means it is noisy. If you are sensitive to noise, request a quiet room away from the road. There was no fridge and no lift. Would be nice to have information on the history of the house and information about things to do e.g. tours.

We took the family room. The beds were comfortable and air conditioning was great. Very spacious. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The basics are there like kettle, coffee and tea, soap, shampoo, toothbrush and hair dryer (need to ask). Very convenient because there are a lot of shops and it’s walkable everywhere.

There is no fridge to keep drinks cool and also tv got limited channels. The heater wasn’t working properly on some days. I think if we told the staff they would have helped to solve the issue but we managed. At night it was noisy but it is expected because it’s at a very popular street. So if you are a light sleeper, find a quieter area. We managed to sleep as we’re ok to sleep with sound. Oh and there is no lift but we got used to climbing one floor. We stayed at level 2.

The location was excellent - very near various tourist attractions and eateries. The place was also easy to find and staff was friendly. It is a great place if you are a night person and want to soak in the vibes of Malacca.

The sound proofing was not great and therefore if you wanted to rest early - it would be very difficult and the traffic along the streets would keep you awake past midnight
