We visited Madeira and stayed in several places: Funchal Lido, Santa Cruz, and Porto Moniz, but this house was by far the most interesting stay of our trip. It’s located in a very small, quiet village, with absolutely stunning views. From the windows, you can see both the mountains and the ocean, which made the whole experience feel really special. The house itself is old, but beautifully renovated. Some original features have been preserved and tastefully restored, which gives the place a lot of character. There are pieces of solid wood furniture that are absolutely spectacular, some of them truly feel like they have a story. The house is very clean and fully equipped with everything you might need. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining area, a living room, and even a lovely outdoor space with a gazebo, a barbecue area, and a garden. There is also a nearby church where the bell rings regularly (only during the day), which adds a very authentic and interesting local touch to the experience. Overall, it’s a very different kind of experience compared to staying in a hotel, much more personal, atmospheric, and memorable. Communication with the host was smooth and efficient throughout our stay. Overall, a beautiful and unique place that we truly enjoyed.
