Villa Lory

This is a great holiday home, it's relatively recently renovated and well organized, with 3 private bedrooms, a large fenced garden with a pool, great parking, a convenient route to Lucca, the beaches or the mountains for hiking. The hosts Giuliana and her daughter, Alice, are always available and took care of everything. Couldn't say enough about how well they accommodated our needs. There's also a remarkably good Osteria a short walk away. We had a great holiday here.

The elephant in the room is Abitare Housing being the middle-man between the real hosts and the guest. They sowed a great deal of confusion, both by being unclear in their communication (something the real hosts were careful to avoid) and by having conflicting systems and rules to what applies on Booking. It would have saved us a great deal of time to have talked to Giuliana and Alice directly. As for the housing, the only thing I might point out as a negative is the AC. It's in the corridor, so it has a limited effect on the bedrooms. It got us through the worst of the heat wave (for just under 100 euros a week at full blast day and night), but it's not powerful enough for the entire house. This is clearly communicated in the listing, but if you haven't yet paid attention to this, it's exactly as described. P.S. The final road to the house is very narrow, coming in from the north felt easier to us.
