Braeview Cottage

The house is located just a couple of minutes drive from the town centre, which was really handy. It's a nice wee house at the back of the main house. It's clean, very warm, and cosy. The little kitchen has all the things to make a meal, there is a small TV in the small lounge, and a four sitter dining table in the middle. The house is cleverly designed and feels very private despite being surrounded by other properties, and it has a view of the lake from the little lounge and mountains from the other side. Overall, it was perfect for two adults and one child.

I sent three messages 24 hours before the check in, two via the booking platform and one to their mobile asking about the possibility of an earlier check in. I finally received a response just a few minutes before the official check in time. Luckily, I read in the reviews that it happened to someone else as well, otherwise I would have been worried if the property is even available. Another thing that we found unusual was that the house did not have a basic espresso machine. We travel extensively around NZ and Australia, and it's the first house that we've stayed in that did not have one. Coffee shops don't open until 7.30am in Tekapo, so it was a bit of a wait to get our espresso hit. Hopefully the owners would consider an upgrade?

Braeview Cottage was a short drive from the lake front, the property was clean, warm and quiet. Check in was easy and the beds were comfortable - just what we needed after a long day. The property was excellent value for money - for the same price as two beds in a shared dorm at the local hostel, we got a two bedroom cottage. Thoroughly recommend, and would love to stay again next time we're in town. :)
