HALLWAY - BACKUP GAS HEATER *Winter Backup Heater: This is a winter backup heater in case the power goes out. We light the pilot light every fall when it starts to get cold and turn it off in the spring when it starts to get warm. If you visit the property during the winter months you may turn this down to level 1 on the thermostat but “PLEASE DO NOT TURN THE PILOT LIGHT OFF IN THE WINTER MONTHS.” This is for the safety and comfort of the home in the event there is power failure.

ACCESS AREAS: Unless otherwise noted, Guests may access the following - all of the living areas and all of the mowed areas near the home to the inside of our private driveway.
NOTICE ON OUTSIDE ITEMS: Anything located outside including the grill, fire table, furniture on the deck, swing set, corn hole boards, basketball goal, sports items, or any other outside items can be damaged by the elements. Also, please be aware that the swing set is located outside under a large hickory tree. From time to time, hickory nuts, pine cones, acorns, limbs, branches, ect. from all of the surrounding trees do fall. Please be reasonable and use caution while accessing any of the items on the property.
NO ACCESS AREAS: Guest cannot access the following areas: attic, basement, chimney, underside of decking, railing, guttering system, ground pipes, water supply, septic supply, runoff pipes, rafters/beams, roof, tree stump dog house, signs, street light poles and street lights, electrical meters, electrical lines, electrical wires, electrical supply, security systems, telephone/internet supply lines, HVAC/central heating and cooling systems, propane gas supply lines, propane gas tank, ditches, embankments, landscaping, wooded areas, wildlife and their habitats and any and all access areas specifically restricted on the property itself. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out through the message application.
NATURE/WILDERNESS: The lodge is located in the mountains of rural Western North Carolina. This area contains national forests, wilderness areas, streams, rivers and lakes. Do not be surprised if you see wildlife from time to time. Although we do not allow hunting from the property, there are areas nearby that allow wildlife hunting during certain seasons of the year. We encourage everyone to educate themselves about native wildlife and enjoy any that they see in the great outdoors. Even if you don’t see anything, you may get to hear their sounds. In the summer months, nothing is better than hearing Katydids, a Whip-Poor-Will or a Bob White while you sit on the deck overlooking the mountains and lake. Typically, you will "not" see the most dangerous types of wildlife; however, contact with any kind of wildlife can be dangerous when approached. Please be reasonable and use caution while doing any and all outdoor activities.
