Appalling. Never coming back.

My TV wouldn't work and when it did I couldn't find my way around the information or sections to connect my phone. The heating panel didn't work. Poor choice of tea and coffee... Lack of towels and missing hair dryer. No phone in room. And halls smelt of cannabis. Found a chip under the bed.

The stale food under the bed. The lack of guidance. The lack of phone to inform the staff. Meaning updown updown. Blood marks on the bed sheet Hairs in the bath Toe nail near the dressser

We recently stayed at Village Hotel Reading and overall had a good experience. The hotel was clean throughout and the room itself was comfortable. On arrival, the atmosphere in the main entrance felt a little overwhelming. The pub/grill area was very busy and quite loud, with a lot of people gathered there. It felt slightly off-putting at first, especially after travelling, but thankfully this didn’t reflect the rest of our stay. The room was pleasantly quiet, and we had no issues with noise during the night. One small downside was the layout in relation to nearby building, we would have liked to open the window with the blinds fully open, but the room looked directly across into another hotel room, which limited privacy.

The parking arrangements were unclear and somewhat frustrating. Our confirmation email stated that parking charges were £10 for 24 hours, and the signage directed us to the open car park where payment had to be made via the RingGo app. However, when we checked in, a member of staff informed us that it would have only been £5.00 if we had paid the hotel directly. This lack of transparency should be clarified at the time of booking to prevent confusion and unnecessary additional cost for guests.

we liked the larger tv in the room

We didn't like the comfortable chairs being right next to the reception of the gym/pool. sitting there felt like we was in a waiting room. the cinema style chairs in front of the large tv seemed like a waste of space. a couple of comfortable seats and tables could be there instead.

A very convenient stay over Christmas whilst visiting family. Very comfortable with lovely welcoming staff.

Good location, excellent food - staff were very polite, professional and accommodating.

Controls for room heating were poor - receptionist had to alter temperature remotely which she did very well. No instructions how to use heating controls, and not obvious, or were faulty. Only disappointment on stay.
