Schoberalm: Family Time in the Heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park
At 1,800 meters, right in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park, lies the Schoberalm—a family chalet in the mountains that offers space for time together as well as for individual needs. For many years, it was run by Anna Fleißner, the family’s grandmother, who worked as a dairymaid. This history continues to shape the atmosphere to this day. With great love and artisanal care, the former alpine hut was later transformed into a spacious chalet that retains its original charm while offering plenty of comfort.
Up here, every generation finds its place: some set out early on a discovery tour, while others take it easy and let the day unfold at its own pace. The surrounding mountains invite you to take a deep breath and let go of everyday life.
In the morning, the day begins at the large wooden table—upon request, with a generously filled breakfast basket from the Fleißner family: homemade Reining, fresh homemade bread, farm butter, and other Carinthian specialties.
A starter package is also available for a relaxed start: a hearty snack featuring regional products, complemented by game from the hunt around the cabin, as well as a cold Carinthian beer. It’s the perfect way to settle into the rhythm of the alpine pastures without any stress after you arrive.
The chalet offers plenty of space for spending time together: a cozy living room, a large dining table for game nights, a comfortable sitting area, and quiet nooks for moments of peace. Outside, the nature adventure begins right at your doorstep—with family-friendly hiking trails in every direction.
If you’re looking for something special, you can book a yoga or breathwork session right on the alpine pasture—a shared experience that often leaves a lasting impression.

The Schoberalm enchants its guests with lovingly designed rooms that reflect the charm of the Alpine surroundings and offer a cozy, warm atmosphere. Each room is unique, with a strong connection to nature and local craftsmanship.
The Swiss Stone Pine Room on the first floor is a double room entirely dedicated to the Swiss stone pine, a tree native to the Alps and known for its calming effect. The wood from the Swiss stone pine, prized for its pleasant scent and its beneficial properties for healthy sleep, was carefully selected to furnish the entire room. 
The spruce room on the upper floor reflects the robustness and earthy character of the spruce. This double room is characterized by its bright, friendly atmosphere, with the spruce wood—with its lively grain and fresh scent—setting the tone. 
The shared room is a true masterpiece of local craftsmanship, furnished with 8 handcrafted wooden beds made from carefully selected regional woods. This room is ideal for groups or families seeking a shared experience in the mountains.
