⚠️ HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND ⚠️
This was one of the worst accommodation experiences we have ever had during all our travels across Europe.
We were traveling to France and booked a place for one night in Italy via Booking. The reservation was officially confirmed by Booking, and the description referred to it as apartments, giving the impression of something hotel-like. In reality, it turned out to be just a private apartment in a residential building, and—of course—non-refundable, which you only discover after the fact.
We arrived around 11:00 PM, completely exhausted after a long drive. We spent over 30 minutes searching for a “hotel” that simply does not exist, because there were no clear instructions whatsoever. This was not a hotel location, but an anonymous apartment with no signs, no markings, nothing.
The worst part: it was impossible to contact the host. For almost an entire hour, she did not answer calls or messages—only an answering machine. She finally responded about an hour later.
‼️ The host speaks ONLY Italian.
She does not speak English or German at all. In 2025, hosting international travelers through a global platform, this is absurd and completely unprofessional.
After midnight, utterly exhausted, we were forced to communicate exclusively via Google Translate—translating her Italian messages, replying in Italian, wasting enormous amounts of time and nerves.
After long, pointless exchanges, it became clear that the apartment was NOT READY AT ALL, despite the confirmed booking. Instead of fixing the problem, the host suggested that we sleep at her mother’s place, promising partial compensation.
Her mother lives far away. Because of road closures, one-way streets, and detours, the trip took a long time. We finally arrived there at around 1:00 AM.
