It was smaller than I anticipated but it worked out okay for a one night stay.

It was in a convenient location and was nice and quiet. Having no natural light meant it was at least dark for sleeping and our children slept well on the single beds 😂 Not being able to check in when we were supposed to meant we found a great local bar where the owner and his lovely mum were so welcoming (just what we needed at that point in time!)

We had a tricky time checking in. We were told check in from 3pm but when we arrived at nearly 4pm we’re told our room wouldn’t be ready for 2 hours as the previous guest was still in the room. We were hit and sticky from a day of train travel and keen to get showered ready to enjoy the sights of Rome. The receptionist was kind but there was a language barrier so we really struggled to understand what was going on. When we came back later, there was nobody at reception and we had no idea how to get to our room (it didn’t have a room number) I called the number provided and was told repeatedly they didn’t understand what my problem was 🫣 Thankfully eventually the receptionist from another hotel in the building was able to help us. Once inside the room was thankfully reasonably clean. It is quite basic and I wouldn’t have wanted to use the kitchen. The mattress for the upstairs bed was very hard and all the windows are blocked so natural light in the room at all. The stairs to the upstairs section are very awkward and the ceilings low. It was ok for us but not great for anyone with mobility issues. We loved Rome but wouldn’t come back to this accommodation again. We had so many great experiences on our trip with Italian hospitality but this was not one of them (I never heard back from the host to check if we were ok)
