Borneo Kelip Kelip Lodge Beaufort

I stayed overnight here to make it easy with doing a river cruise package while self-driving. They also organize the cruise, so that worked great and was an amazing experience. Except for that I was mostly entirely alone at this lodge after everyone left. All around fun experience, relaxing on the porch of my cabin with the fan on and a book.

It was extremely hard to find. Note for others: You park at the garden nursery that is roughly where the GPS says.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and I loved the peaceful atmosphere by the river. The firefly cruise was definitely the highlight of the stay, such a unique and beautiful experience. It really felt close to nature.

The room was quite basic and facilities were a bit limited, but still comfortable enough for a short stay. Even though there was WiFi, the connection wasn’t strong enough for communication. But that’s okay — it gave us a good reason to disconnect and enjoy nature instead.

Erg leuk en direct op het terrein. Erg relaxed om op eigen gelegenheid er naar toe te reizen. Wij kwamen met de trein uit Kota Kinabalu tot Beaufort en vandaar een Grab taxi naar Only in Borneo. Dit is de plek waar alle tourgroepen naar toe komen om de river cruise en avond tour te doen. Alleen vanuit de lodge naar Menumbok was een lastige. De beheerder heeft ons tegen betaling (evenveel als Grab) prima weggebracht.
