    I had an amazing experience at Yugen. Stayed there for 3 nights and I wish I stayed for longer. Can’t recommend this place enough. 100/10

    This is my favourite hotel during my Japan trip!! It is a very new and clean hotel and not expensive at all. Not a big fancy one, but with great Japanese aesthetics in all the details. The room, albeit no view from the window, does not feel enclosed. Instead the decoration makes the room feel very zen and intimate and cozy. The location is great as well, in a quiet neighbourhood but easy to get to anywhere you want in Kyoto city.

    We stayed here for three nights and had a wonderful experience. The service was excellent, and the welcome drinks and treats were a lovely touch. The room was incredibly well equipped, with thoughtful amenities throughout. We especially loved the onsen and appreciated the high-quality amenities, including Jurlique products and a Dyson hair dryer. The bed was super fluffy and exceptionally comfortable. Overall, this was a 10/10 stay, and I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. One small suggestion for the hotel: it may be helpful to provide a brief reminder about onsen etiquette for international guests who may be unfamiliar with it. During our stay, a few guests brought their phones into the onsen bathing area, which made me feel somewhat uncomfortable. This is certainly not the hotel's fault, but a gentle reminder or signage could help preserve the relaxing atmosphere for everyone.

    There’s nothing to fault with Yugen Kyoto Shijo. The staff were friendly & accommodating. Our room was even better than the photos - spacious and clean. They also have a gym and public bath. The location is convenient and close to bus stops and other attractions such as Pontocho and Kamo river. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would 100% come back next time we’re in town.
