THE CENTRAL HOUSE GRANADA ELVIRA

Overall everything was nice it’s a hostel and we had a private room since it’s a hostel so don’t expect changing of towels and you have to pay to keep your luggage. Generally it was clean and nice and not too far actually it’s at the starting/end point of albayazin. Also value for money is amazing!

Let's start with the positive aspects: 1) the location is great with plenty of busses stop just around the corner. Also within 10 mins walk to the cathedral and 15 mins to plaza Nuevo 2) my room was very clean and the housekeeping cleaned the room very well 3)the room that I booked was large and had all the basics, even a smart TV with Netflix and prime but you don't go to Granada to spend time watching TV Now the bad: 1) the AC was a joke. The first day (friday), The thermometer indicated 26.5 to 27 degrees in my room despite turning the fan to the highest power. When I brought this issue to the receptionist, she said she will send an engineer to fix it. Nobody came that day. The second day (saturday), I brought the issue again to a different receptionist, he said there is no engineer until Monday the following week. He said to me to just open the windows because the air outside will be cooler. The problem is the noise outside was so loud from nearby cafe/bar/restaurant. Even at 3AM in the morning people were still shouting and partying. 2) the staff (except one very pleasant young fella from Belgium) didn't seem to care. The impression that I got every time I interacted with them was "what does this guest want and how can i get rid of him ASAP?" 3)today (Monday) I received an email from the central house granada that my payment has been rejected. I replied to them that I have prepaid everything in full amount before I arrived via Agoda. They replied to me by sending an invoice of a payment made on May 25 with a Mastercard to the amount of 230 euro. First, I dont have a Mastercard. Second, the amount that I had paid was more than that. Third, I checked out the day before. So I pointed out all these facts to them and I also sent the invoice from Agoda as a proof that I had paid everything. They replied with a one-liner "sorry there was a mistake".

Before I booked the place, I’ve seen some reviews saying that it’s the best hostel they’ve stayed! And after I checked in and finished my Europe 1-month trip, I have to agree!! The room was so organized, easy to meet people, and most importantly, the staff are soooo friendly, every single staff, every time I saw them, they’re so happy and greeting me with a big smile! Amazing experience! Thanks!

The hostel was generally clean and well maintained. However, the temperature policy in the mixed dorm was a major issue. The room felt extremely hot, around 30°C, and the air conditioning did not seem to be working properly. Despite reporting the issue, the temperature remained uncomfortable throughout my stay. As a result, I was unable to sleep properly for two nights due to the heat and sweating. Improving the air conditioning and allowing better temperature control in the dorms would greatly improve the guest experience.
