Archimede Apartment Ortigia

Host had messaged with details of how to access the lockbox. We arrived very late at night but found the keys as we had expected, the only difficulty was actually accessing the apartment as the locks and keys were very old and difficult to turn. The apartment itself was absolutely beautiful, 2 double bedrooms (one with a balcony) big living/dining room (also with a balcony) , compact but functional kitchen and well-fitted bathroom. The apartment was very convenient on one of the main streets of Ortigia (and on a bus route) about 20 minutes walk from train station.

Nothing about the apartment. The owner had given us the number for a local taxi as we were arriving late at night, sadly the taxi firm did not turn up and refused to talk on the phone.

Great location, really good communication with the host. A big spaced living room and two good sized bedrooms. Lots of nice restaurants, swimming places etc close by! Recommend

We had a nice stay overall. The host was excellent, always available, very easy to communicate with and genuinely helpful throughout our visit. The location is definitely the highlight. It’s close to everything, including the large parking area at Ortigia, which was very convenient. ​The apartment was clean. For a short stay of a few days, it’s a perfectly okay option given the great location.

The apartment does feel a bit run-down. It would definitely benefit from some renovation and modernization to bring it up to its full potential.

Location and space

Many things from the front door entrance to the missing batteries in remotes m. Not one instruction presented in a book to advise that we have to empty the air conditioning water from the balconies. The noise is out of control no double glazing. The kitchen light bulb went out and no response from the owner for 3 days we were in the dark. Grubby kitchen pots and pans dirty. Coffee machine and kettle had dirty water in them. After our second day the owner wanted to send someone to clean out apartment for 2hours! What a joke it want cleaned properly before what would 2 hours extra do. Hot water switch accidentally turned off again NO information to let us know the workings of the apartment.
