Now let’s get this straight from the very beginning: this is not a vacation home, it is a “loose your soul home”! Loose it to the one billion and one stars which drop onto you when at midnight all the street lights are turned off. Loose it to the endless beaches To the unknown silence. Loose it to the wide fields inhabited by bales of straw, herons, horses, donkeys To the charm of a little backyard fragrant of herbs Loose it to a warm, most tender pain au chocolat To a croissant, if you prefer… Loose it and find it again On your return. Ok, ok. You want facts. (Though I must say, all the things mentioned above ARE facts!) My family spent in this very welcoming and from bottom to top best equipped house one week at the end of June. The kitchen provides ALL you need: electric kettle, a moka pot (my husband is Italian, so this was crucial :-)), lemon squeezer, garlic press, … a half moon to chop your herbs, freshly picked in the backyard of the house, where you can enjoy a most wonderful petit- déjeuner with pain au chocolat you can get - still warm - every morning from the bakery, only a 5 minutes bike ride away from the house. If you are a large family the two bathrooms come in handy (one of them with a separate toilet). Yes, there is a TV, but we NEVER turned it on and we have two teenage kids! Two umbrellas for the beach are at your disposition as well as a set for “boules” to play at the camp at a distance of only a 10 minutes walk. You can rent bikes at a close by place (25 minutes walk) to discover each day a different village, a different beach, from the ones with surfing waves to the calm ones. Plenty of material (brochures, guides etc) is in the house about bike routes on the island, touristic attractions, restaurants... PS: For those who can’t manage without their virtual life, in the bedroom with the starfish pictures on the wall, next to the window you have quite a good reception; just enough to post a picture or two every day; jealousy guaranteed….. :-)

We had a wonderful stay in Michaela‘s and Sébastien‘s house on Oléron. The house is cosy, clean, well equipped and ideally located for trips all over the island. We especially appreciated the culinary aspects of the island, which come at very reasonable prices. Its variety, freshness and excellence of local products like oysters, fish, seashells, meat and vegetables, and the large choice of excellent restaurants made the island an addictive destination we definitely want to return to!

We loved everything about the house and the area! Great spot for all parts of the island. Thank you both for making this house so cosy and comfortable.
