"The unit is beautiful! It is extremely well thought out and everything you need is there. You are steps away from the main square with shopping and food, yet the area is quiet and amazingly peaceful!..."

About this apartment rental

Already in the 14th century, 'De Drie Koningen' was one of the 'guest houses' where visitors could stay overnight. Since 1995 this tradition of hospitality can be found here again.

Today you will find 6 spacious and very comfortable holiday homes at this location, named 'De Drie Koningen'. They all have the same level of comfort with a spacious living room, fitted kitchen, 1 to 2 bathrooms with bath or walk-in shower, 1 to 4 bedrooms, etc ... They are spread over 3 buildings:

Twijnstraat 13: the building dates from the 14th century. The medieval aspect has unfortunately disappeared because it was thoroughly renovated in 1839 in the spirit of that time: a large mansion in neoclassical style. In 1997 the building was divided into 3 apartments: St-Donaas on the ground floor, St-Niklaas on the first floor and St-Jacob on the second floor. In 2002, the basement "De Vergulde Fontein" was completely excavated. The history of 'De Drie Koningen' came to light and one of the most beautiful 14th century cellars in Bruges was finally exposed. In this magnificent cellar you can attend now beer tastings, small events and Argentinian tango classes. From 2016 onwards, the apartments were once again renovated one by one in order to comply with the imposed safety regulations and the contemporary wishes of the visitors.

Twijnstraat 17: was originally part of a former notary's house from the 17th century in the Ridderstraat. At the beginning of the 20th century it became a private hospital with a doctor's practice until 1999. During the renovation in 2001 all outbuildings were demolished and a patio was created. This beautifully enclosed communal city garden (including a small swimming pool) gives access to 3 different apartments: "St-Jan" on the ground floor, "Onze-Lieve-Vrouw" above the former coach house and "Carmers" on the second floor. From 2017 onwards, the apartments were renovated for the last time.

A 'home away from home' for a pleasant holiday with friends or family.
The apartment St-Jacob is located on the 2nd floor at Twijnstraat 13. This huge apartment still shows the traces of a rich past. The 650-year-old roof construction and the construction of the trusses result in a remarkable 7-meter high living room with dining and sitting areas (2) and an open kitchen. In this stylish, charming apartment with a fireplace (unfortunately out of service due to fire regulations), everyone feels like a king here!
The apartment is a duplex apartment and has 4 bedrooms (2 on the ground floor and 2 on the first floor, each with a 1 queen-size bed and 2 single beds) and 2 bathrooms with a walk-in shower, equally divided over the two floors.
Despite its splendor, this apartment also has limitations. It is located on the top floor of the building and can only be reached along a stately spiral staircase and narrow stairway since no elevator may be installed. So travel light packed. There is also no (roof) terrace. For visitors who are less mobile, we recommend that you consider our other apartment St-Jan on the ground floor.

Well appointed, excellent location, friendly hosts and terrific welcome (quiet neighbours!) Fascinating history, with the cellars now a protected monument. This was a 60th birthday trip - four brothers reliving a similar adventure of 35 years ago. Loved our visit and were blessed with great weather. Being June, Brugge not overrun with tourists - yay! Highly recommended.

Ideally located, excellent layout and space in property, great facilities. Teenagers made great use of the small pool as we were lucky with some hot weather. They also enjoyed the DVD library. Bruges was very busy as it was August, but we had a great time, particularly making chocolates in the Belgian Chocolate Workshop.

What an absolute delight to stay at St Jacob! My family and I spent 5 nights at De Drie Koningen in St Jacob and celebrated Christmas in the apartment. It had absolutely everything we could need and was so close to the centre of Brugge, making is so easy to get around. The owner, Tom, was really helpful and even gave me a tour of the cellar and told me about the history of the building, which was fascinating. The St Jacob apartment is on the top floor, only accessible by 2 steep, winding staircases. This didn't bother us though and we thought the climb was absolutely worth it as the apartment was perfect for our family. It's important to keep this in mind though, if you have any mobility issues however Tom was sure to let us know about the stairs in advance, so we knew what to expect. We would absolutely return to St Jacob again, on our next visit to Brugge! Thank you, Tom for a wonderful stay and for your hospitality.

This is a lovely group of apartments in central Bruges, moments from all the key attractions. The flat was huge and well equipped. The whole complex with the honesty bar with a great range of beers and some essentials too is great. Tom was available and helpful with any queries.
