A short walk leads to the heart of the quaint village, where visitors will conveniently find a community shop, post office, choice of two pubs serving traditional meals, a fish and chip shop, and an Indian restaurant and takeaway. There are numerous walks and cycling trails from the doorstep, and just beyond, lie the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Local attractions include stately homes at Sutton Park, Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall, abbey ruins at Byland and Rievaulx, and family fun at Flamingoland and Go Ape. Bustling market towns can be found at Easingwold, Malton and Helmsley, and there are numerous picturesque villages with traditional country inns serving generous Yorkshire hospitality and real ales. "Lovely little cottage with everything you need in a verypeaceful setting .one minor item a new mattress is required in double room aa the bed squeaked a lot. Otherwise great. We will ge back peaceful "
