About this cottage rental

Gaffers cottage has been upgraded over the years and still retains many of the original features, character and charm with exposed beams, brickwork and wall ties.

There is a well-equipped kitchen with a range cooker and a breakfast area that opens into a generous dining room. The living room opens onto a sunny patio. Our large garden is bounded and divided by old walls and railings into three distinct areas with BBQ, lawns, courtyard and play areas. This property is ideal for a large family or group of friends to enjoy time away to relax and unwind or enjoy a special occasion.

Great location, perfect that it’s on private land so lovely and quiet. Gaffers Cottage is great as we have family and friends join us during our week. So lovely to have the swimming pool close by, a well stocked fishing lake and all the field and footpath walks at our fingertips. Not far from Cromer or Mudesley, and The dog loved it too, she’s never had so many walks. Sheelah, Jack and Kim are always happy to help if we have any questions. A wonderful place and we’ll be back again next year.

We had an excellent break. House and grounds were brilliant. Only thing that could do with improvement was the games rooms - the kids one would really benefit from some new equipment as the only thing that really was in good condition was the air hockey. Adult games room was similar - some new table tennis rackets would been great. Otherwise the whole place is absolutely brilliant!

Absolutely loved our stay, Sheelah and Jack were perfect hosts. The cottage was lovely and we all slept very well. The facilities were spot on and as described and the swimming pool was a lovely bonus with the weather. Thank you Sheelah and Jack for making my 60th birthday one to remember and treasure. The setting is marvellous, the facilities first rate, conversion of old buildings retaining their character, and high standards of comfort in the accommodation. I just wish we could have stayed longer.

Our family had the most wonderful week staying at Spixworth Hall Cottages over Easter. Gaffers Cottage comfortably accommodated 9 adults and 5 young children and the hosts are so attentive and lovely. The good weather meant we made the most of the grounds, the on-site play park, playbarn, fishing lake and swimming pool, and even managed some adult only time in the games room on some of the evenings. It is our second visit and holds a special place in our hearts. We will be back!

We booked 4 cottages, all were clean and had everything we needed. We used the gashes room which was brilliant for the group being able to spend time together. Hosts were really accommodating and we all had a great time.

Our family of 10 adults & 5 small children had a fantastic stay at Gaffers Cottage over the Easter break. The place was clean & well-equipped with a brand new kitchen including a great range oven that was ideal for our large family meals. The children absolutely loved the play barn and we spent a lot of time in there as well as doing some lovely walks in the surrounding fields and wooded areas. It’s an ideal location close to Norwich & great for exploring the Norfolk Broads. We loved it so much we are returning next Easter. Me and my family stayed at Gaffers to celebrate our mums birthday and we loved it. We’ve stayed at Spixworth cottages a few times before and we always love coming back. The games room is great for the kids, there’s amazing walks to take our dogs on and the house itself is just great and has everything you need. There is always someone on hand to help too if there is ever anything you need. We love it here and we’ll definitely be back.

Jack, Sheelah and the whole team at Spixworth Cottages were so helpful throughout our entire stay. We feel so lucky to have found the perfect venue for our wedding and to have had all our friends and family stay on site with us. We all very much enjoyed our stay at Gaffers Cottage. Location is great both logistically and within the grounds of Spixworth Hall. The staff and service were very friendly and always helpful. The swimming pool was great! For an outdoor pool, it was always a very good temperature & very well maintained. Our brother-in-law also hugely enjoyed the private fishing lake. Our (very minor) areas of improvement would be some of the plants/trees within the garden could do with cutting back, particularly by the back gate. The garden furniture could perhaps be updated at some point as some family members struggled a bit with the chairs. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience & we would definitely return in the near future.

Fantastic family reunion in Gaffers cottage. Something for everyone and such a relaxing place to be. The play barn is great for the kids and there is a modern play park with swings too! We loved the pool too! We will be back!

I’ve booked two cottages gaffers and the granary. This was for my sons wedding where all the family could stay. Is there any wool gaffers is the 16th century building which has been converted into a large cottage. It was the ideal place for us all to stay. We felt very at home and comfortable. Sheila and Jack could not have been more helpful and kinder. Definitely recommend to a large family or group. The swimming pool (please don’t change it) was brilliant like going back in time and the fact that you can book slots was great. Thank you so much

I had my wedding here in the last week of June and it couldn't have been more perfect. We hired out all of the cottages and every single one was spotless, comfortable, and charming. They all come fully equipt with easy access to information if you need it. The staff are so kind and welcoming too. 10/10 stay, 10/10 wedding location.
