About this house rental
Lakemont Cottage: The perfect cabin to relax and warm-up after a long day of skiing or hiking. Only a 5 minute walk to the private Lakemont Pines Lake. The cabin is less than 200 feet to the base of the Stanislaus National Forest, and the newly established ART (Arnold Rim Trail), with over 20 miles of excellent hiking and exploring. The private Lakemont Pines Lake is OPEN, has a sandy beach area, lifeguard, kayaks, playground, pedal boats, horseshoes, and events in summer for children. You can bring your own kayaks or SUP's, borrow them from "The Stuff Shed" at the lake, during the summers, or rent them at the SNAC Store in Arnold, which is a short 1/2 mile away.
2 Bedroom, 1 Bath, 1000 sq. ft. - Charming, clean, light and peaceful. Cabin is newly furnished with a Zen-like feel. Located on a beautiful, wooded lot in the much desired Lakemont Pines area of Arnold. This is an excellent location for hiking, snowshoeing and relaxing in nature.
Cabin has 2 bedrooms with queen beds (one bedroom has a queen bed with a twin bed in the loft area), as well as a sofa an a double futon in living room. Cabin includes WIFI, cable TV in Living Room, DVD player, and all kitchen amenities. There are plenty of games and puzzles for fun and relaxation. We have continued to ask guests to bring their own bath towels (which we implemented during covid). We have not raised our rates for a decade, and it is one way we have kept our rates low. (There are plenty of blankets, comforters, kitchen towels!). The cabin is THOROUGHLY sanitized before each guest checks in.
Cabin has 2 decks overlooking our private wooded lot, complete with patio furniture and a gas BBQ. There is a parklike setting in the rear of the cabin, where there is a table, chairs and umbrella, as well as two adironadack chairs by the stream, when running. Cabin is equipped with a wall furnace, NEW electric heaters in bedrooms and bathroom, and a NEW gas fireplace in living room, surrounded by a river rock hearth.
Arnold is located in Calaveras County in the beautiful Sierra Foothills between historic Murphy's town and Bear Valley. It's an easy drive and only 2.5 hours from the Bay Area.
Your well behaved dog is welcome. If you are bringing more than one dog (there is a 95./fee for first dog), there is an additional $75. charge for the second dog. There is a maximum of two dogs. We ask each guest if they are bringing dog(s). If we discover a dog(s) has been at the cabin, without our knowledge, and payment, we will deduct 400. from your deposit. PLEASE, NO SMOKING. Maximum 4-5 guests. Five guests at the discretion of the owner.

At 3,000 to 5,000 feet elevation range, we experience the beauty of four distinct seasons.

Hiking, camping & backpacking through the scenic and vast Stanislaus wilderness area.
Boating and water sports at one of many lakes including New Melones, Don Pedro, Hogan, Tulloch, Comanche & more.
Other recreation includes River Rafting - Tennis - Racquetball - Swimming - Mountain Biking - Caving at Moaning Caverns, Mercer Caverns or Cave City.

Perfectly situated in Arnold, between Calavaras Big Trees State Park, and Murphys for shopping and wine tasting. The cabin was cozy, clean, and affordable. The under-rated benefit was access to the private lake! I was expecting to pay at least 30 to rent a paddle board. Instead, we got to borrow them from the Stuff Shack at the lake for free. 10/10, will come back.

A cute and cozy spot minutes from the lake. We LOVED our stay and will be rebooking here. Clean, accommodating and in a beautiful location.

Beverley is an uncommonly gracious and thoughtful host, and her lovely forest retreat is a little slice of paradise. This cabin is the perfect spot for escaping the drudgery and stresses of the daily grind and reconnecting with the things that matter. You are only about a 10 -15 minute drive from Big Trees, but there are also hiking trails a few steps from the front door. Even the air is different here. We all slept like babies, even our baby who often struggles in unfamiliar environments. The only negative part of the experience was that it couldn't continue indefinitely. Sigh. We will definitely be taking Beverley up on her offer to come back soon!
